There is romance in this game? Where?you can consider it a game just with a light romance
Oh, I see, you mean romance... for behavioral sciences. Yeah, MC fucking loves science, and nothing else.

Ok, that could be one, I forgot about it (that storyline is so far away...). I think he still loves science more than Samantha. The date with Samantha to that restaurant was a little bit of romance.
Romances can also be initiated with Lucy and Priti as well.Ok, that could be one, I forgot about it (that storyline is so far away...). I think he still loves science more than Samantha.
I don't think I could consider that "romance" at all. Samantha was already just -ish, but considering it had no time to develop storywise well, it pointed to that idea, but Lucy and Priti are a bit more advanced than that and I don't see the romance there.Romances can also be initiated with Lucy and Priti as well.
Perhaps you aren't making the right choices. Lucy's arc is definitely a romance.I don't think I could consider that "romance" at all. I think I probably made those choices, I just don't think we have the same concept of romance. Anyway, the reason I talked about romance was that someone considered this game due to the lack of sex "a game with a light romance" and I really don't think what defines this game is the romance on it, like is some softcore dating game or something.Perhaps you aren't making the right choices. Lucy's arc is definitely a romance.
While I am certain here it often is an excuse for missed deadlines or what have you, self employed in general and coders in particular indeed have some of the highest rates of illnesses, breakdowns and similar. So not to the amount we are seeing, but it is expected.I'm sure it's not the case here, but I've noticed that GameDev seems to have the highest rate of hospitalizations, dying relatives and chronic illness of any profession I've ever seen.
The stress of doing all of those jobs, the stress of people complaining no matter what you do, the stress of having a slave driver for a boss... lolWhile I am certain here it often is an excuse for missed deadlines or what have you, self employed in general and coders in particular indeed have some of the highest rates of illnesses, breakdowns and similar. I don't disagree with you - as there are several things that come with being a coder, game designer, etc. While I am certain here it often is an excuse for missed deadlines or what have you, self employed in general and coders in particular indeed have some of the highest rates of illnesses, breakdowns and similar. Never mind, for self-employed in general: you often have to worry about your income. I am living comfortably on my government wage knowing they cannot get rid of me if I don't start stealing cutlery from the team kitchen and I will get my money until I retire. Self employed, especially when struggling (which you will do when starting out) is about "how am I going to pay my bills next week" which is an additional stress. Also, having done self-employed work for almost a decade, at least here it is way more complicated with taxes, health insurance and so forth, though that might not apply everywhere and is just a small problem compared to the others.I don't disagree with you - as there are several things that come with being a coder, game designer, etc.
- You are your own boss. Many people cannot do this because they are creative and the business, management, logical side comes to play and many people get in too deep. Now they are not playing to their strengths, and have to push through with lots of hard work to meet deadlines, either that or just smoke weed and play games (as many devs are also gamers). Which one sounds more fun?
- There is such a thing as creative burn out. When you have to create things for so long at such a high level, you just become burnt out. I have hit it (writing college courses), others have hit it when you have to write a story and don't have enough time to get it done.
- You get bored doing the same thing over time and want to learn.
- Going along with #3, you like to have fun, which is probably why you became a coder to begin with, you probably like to game. So you have to have your free time.
- There are only so many ways to handle the stress and stuff. Drugs, alcohol, food, or something else to numb the pain and get a seratonin/dopamine rush. You can work yourself through it regardless of your physical health (this is me), because you promised something or you can think "that is tomorrow me's problem".
Just saying - there is a lot of issues with picking this lifestyle. I personally give devs a break along the way, and become a patreon when the games are completed. This site has so many games to chose from, there is never time to wait to find a game.
That said - I wish the Dev Team the best and hope to see something soon.![]()
PS - I know a lot of this from working 25 years in IT and Cyber Security. Trust me when I say - I have been there and done that. I used to live the "work hard ... play hard" mantra, until I got older and playing hard just ain't in the cards any more. So seen it all, felt it all.
For the time being. Patrons come and go.Right now, the game has appr. 3.000 Patrons. So it is presumably the main income-source of the dev and I don't think, the game would be abandoned as long, as the dev is in good health.
You cannot just stay on the same level for years. You have to get better, because someone will get better.I think, that people lose interest in the game is also not that probable as long, as the story-, writing- and image- quality stays at least on the level where it is.
That is, before they lose the interest over time. Many people would just want to know how it ends and the "community feeling" does also much to the lasting support.
Not abandoned, but outdated. What I mean is not like books against movies, but books printed in 18th or so against modern ones. Some people indeed like old, classic stuffs, but with new technology these stuffs are made with more efficient and better quality. There are people like 2d anime, but they like it more in 4k than 800*600.Regarding technology: the evolving of a new technology doesn't mean necessarily, that old technologies gets completely abandoned. Books, are still sold in masses today despite the existence of movies. And there are still even a lot of people who prefer 2d-hentai over 3d-hentai or any other porn.
If a technology would be available, that would allow for a faster development process, the dev might even use this finally himself.
For the time being. Patrons come and go.
As far, as I see, people who support a game are quite consistent in doing so. There was even one well known game (Milfy City) where the dev brought no update for 2 years and fell from 7.000 supporters to still over 5000 supporters. After this his fan base dropped much faster to ca. 3.500, but mostly because he couldn't deliver story-wise, what I don't see here at all. That is, before they lose the interest over time.
We're still speaking about a single game. There are sure some skills and technics you can learn to get a better in story-telling and image/animation production and to raise the interactivity, but it is never said, that your fan-base would even appreciate that. It might sometimes be even deconstructive as with rising skills, you might tend to rather remake earlier parts of the game where the crowd wants consistent characters and more and faster content. You cannot just stay on the same level for years. You have to get better, because someone will get better.
The game has right now ca. 3.000 patrons, which after all what I've witnessed with other popular devs right now might not go much down in the next years (unless there is some unforseeable drastic event). As far as I know the dev works as full-time-developer of this game without other main income. He makes the game right now not only to his own delight, but also to make a living from it. His posts read also rather as such of a structured man, who has an aim than that of a pure creative individualist. Not abandoned, but outdated. What I mean is not like books against movies, but books printed in 18th or so against modern ones. There are people like 2d anime, but they like it more in 4k than 800*600.
Using a new, breakthrough technology could means you have to start from scratch again. Dev may or may not want to do that, and when they do they might do it for new projects instead of porting old ones.
TD,LR: At the moment we are 'flying blind' when it comes to a release date. When is the next update coming?
For his health issues, he's already revealed from his Happy Holidays post that he's been doing better now but not in a complete recovery yet! Still waiting if there's still another Dev. Update in a couple weeks or later about clear announcement of his update progress and the update release date will be known soon enough after that.TD,LR: At the moment we are 'flying blind' when it comes to a release date.
From Development Update 42, posted December 6th, 2022:
Unfortunately, at the moment I can only say that the next update is going to be delayed to early next year. By the time of my next development update, I should have some better news about the state of my health and progress on the game should be back on track.
Typically, Altos will post the last development update for a build up to a month before he releases that build as a beta. But there has been no indication that this is going to be the last development update. All we have to go off of at the moment is 'early next year' - and with all of the issues that Altos has been having, we might be looking at a March or April release. Hopefully we get it sooner though.
i like this devsWhile there's no date to be announced yet, I can say that the development team has been pretty active lately, in terms of writing, rendering, code improvement (that'll be very useful for the next updates) and consistency issue fixing.
That's all I can say![]()
