Ren'Py - The Headmaster [v0.16.3] [Altos and Herdone]

The Headmaster is definitely worth a 5 star rating, it has an actual game for you to play, managing stats, your students and money... But it never feels grindy or pointless it's always rewarding to unlock new content, nothing feels rushed and nothing feels like it's dragging more than it needs and all is tracked by a replay screen that helps you get all scenes in a version.

The game also has great image quality with a reasonable footprint and a surprising amount of content as of 0.4.3.

At .2.2 I was interested, but unsure if the game would flounder in mediocrity or evolve into something meriting a 5/5 rating. At .4.2 I would say it seems much more likely to be the latter rather than the former.
Still a very limited amount of content, but the content that exists floats consistently between "good" and "great". Renders are consistent quality. Animations are mostly minimalist yet smooth enough to serve the purpose effectively, and the newly added animations that are full motion are genuinely impressive. The setting is what it needs to be to manifest the game's focus, and the plot, though largely only eluded to thus far, is as interesting as it needs to be (which is to say..."who really cares?"). Most characters have very limited development so far but are well done - each person feels unique, visually and psychologically. The game mechanics are only implemented for one girl so far, but it is a pretty solid system that can be very entertaining when applied to all characters.
If the current trends continue, I have every faith that this will be an exemplary game.

Exellent artwork, a couple of really good animations, sexy girls, an interesting premise/plot and alot of branches to go down, a true trainer game, with its unique own twist on the genre. Weird thing is, i usually hate 3dcg games, but this one is just downright sexy to the core

One of the best training games I've played, allot of variety in terms of looks of the girls and personality.

Animations are really smooth also.

Good regular updates as well so far too, can't wait to see where this goes in the future. I just hope that they take their time with the training mechanics and don't feel pushed to rush into sex with all the girls too fast as i feel this breaks the immersion of games like this. It should take time to get to that stage.

I think this game is great and I hope the dev keeps working on it. The setting and premise may be my favorite of all the games on f95. The graphics are excellent, the writing is fantastic and once the upcoming punishment system gets put in place it will be my a terrific game and will probably result in me supporting on patreon. .

The characters are well written unique and I hope the punishment system is as broad to deal with all these naughty girls in the appropriate fashion. Well done Altos and Herdone, I'm a fan!

Based on version 6.2

-Backstories being built up with teachers and some key pupils, potential sweet romances or sexy friends with benefits, can make friends or enemies. I felt warm if I did something that cheered up or helped a character, I could also play a harder line if I wished.

There are some lovely moments where, having interacted with the character for awhile as helped them as headmaster via quests and they develop as a person, it comes together in some sweet scenes, or other times sensual (or both) scenes, and a feeling of a bond grown between headmaster and lady, of characters changing due to your efforts.

-Replay system is generous for anything you have missed due to choices and very generous with second chances like hiring Trixie if you went with the… more responsible first time round.

-Strong enf (embarrassed naked female) about situations the females find themselves in, strongest game for that in my experience. Varies up the situation, very good at playing into the ladies personality with the enf’s so their punishment, reason for being like that (punishment or not)

+A nice sense of humour from the headmaster about the situations he faces and about the honourable/power choices you sometimes get for a path, the headmaster reacting to the paths chosen.

+Variation in terms of personalty and body types, varying the enf and springing "now for something completely different" like the hilarious goldeneye scenes


+Punishment quests (there are other quests for characters). Two so far, I was more in for the enf rather then the spanking so wasn’t sure going into them if I would be “get through this quickly” but it has been interesting.

The mechanics are clear and usually clear what you need to do to level the person up, free mode lets you explore each and every punishment. Each step unlocks something new in the punishment, adds more depth to the character being punished as well as Miss Newman and your headmaster, alters things that happen in the school.

The punishments are tailored to the character, what you have discovered about drives them and it drives your character into exploring more about them, granting you bigger rewards and interesting conversations in a virtuous circle.

+Sense of progress. Both in game and out. In the game you see impact of decisions and the improving school via the characters that become increasingly allied, growing as people, new powers and toys to play with.

Outside of that, you do see new characters being added, hints at what is to come in future quests or in the school, being able to go that bit further with the characters or new features being added so each update feels another sizeable step forward.

I've just completed all the available content for this version (0.3.4) and have to say, I can understand why this game has been rated so highly.
Everything about it is first class.
The storyline is great, keeps one guessing , and has the potential to become one of the better games on this site.
The sex scenes so far have fitted perfectly with the story. Not too rushed which makes a change from some games.
The characters are perfect for the story and the girls? Well, what can I say?
HOT, HOT, HOT!!!!
TBH I can't find anything negative about it.

based on v. 0.3.3 so let's start!!


Summery: You are a headmaster at a high school like academy where you must discipline the students with your new and "special" methods but you have to gain absolute power over the school first, aka you must convince the other teachers to follow you.

Good:

1. The story is rather creative and interesting.
2. The characters are unique and rather deep
3. awesome CG very high quality! !!!
4. you have a variety of actions and ways to interact with your students (be nice or strict)
5. Good writing!
6. Great....GREAT potential for the future

Bad: There is not a lot here

1. At the moment it's kind of short on content (especially on H) if it had more of the mechanics and H encounters implemented it would be a 5 star!
2. Some mechanics that were introduced in the beginning didn't appear later on. and the punishment got boring since you had no way of customizing it like the first time

Conclusion

It's an awesome game that reminds me of HHS but only the positive points got transferred ^^ I really enjoyed the game! More for the game play then the H content but that just shows how good the game is! and the H content is highest quality I have seen in a renpy game so far....maybe I have missed some gems....?
I suggest you get it!

Very engaging, I continued to be surprised throughout the current length of the game. I like every character in this game, and some I can't get off my mind. I can't wait to see what future updates bring, as any direction they go I'm sure I'll enjoy it.

WOW!!!!! What a great game, I love the mechanics, graphics, plot, game play, point system, and progression. The possibilities are endless. I’ve never been into BDSM or discipline type stuff but now I’m hooked and can’t wait to see what new ‘measures’ the MC can implement in the future. The game is simply well thought out. All the characters are interesting, with different traits and personalities. Can’t wait to see what’s next, would love to see Priti helping the MC decide which dog breed would be the best school mascot (after further corruption of course) and how humiliating would it be to be forced to perform bestiality in public and maybe a black bull teaching Charlotte (and others) about racism or checking some of the other girl’s white privilege. Thank you developer for one of the most engaging games I have ever played.

I really enjoy the gameplay, hopefully more content will be released quickly and regularly. I just wish there were less typos as it is distracting and makes the game look unprofessional when otherwise it's got everything to become a great game.

Usually not a big fan of honey select games, but they make it work in this one. That combined with the teenage school setting makes it fantastic. The dev seems to be dedicated to this project, so I decided to pledge.

Different character models with no excessive big tits (which seems to be a recurring feature in other honey select games).

Definitely a 5/5 from me.

The following review is based off my personal experience with playing this Game/Visual Novel... I try to be as brutally honest and detailed as I can, and these are my own opinions and thoughts, from one or more play throughs...

(Review Update - v0.8.1Beta)

Well it's been about a year since I last played/read this game... Not much has changed beyond new content...

The visuals have stayed about the same quality as before...

The story text quality is about the same as before, and the main story elements are still present...

The new content is good, and includes a few more normal erotic fetishes then prior content for certain characters, which was nice... The mechanics for the punishment system within the protagonists office have matured somewhat, with the addition of some new content and methods of punishment/reward... The BDSM elements are on par with prior content, and thank goodness the developers have opted not to take things too far towards the extreme side... It's just the right balance thus far...

Most new content revolves around the students, to include weekend activities involving multiple (if not all) student characters at once... Some additional themes have been added... Concepts like adding ranks and responsibilities for some key students (with rank titles similar to what you might see in old school British private schools)... A little more content revolving around some teachers but mostly focusing on the physical education teacher/professor...


Overall, for a years worth of development, there is a decent amount of new content, bug fixing, and so forth... It's hard to say if it's on par with how much content is typical of a years worth of development, as each developer or team of developers is different... The quality of content has pretty much stayed the same, and the quantity of content over the last year is probably around the normal average you might expect... It's still very focused on the porn content over anything story wise, but the main story and side stories have progressed slightly...

Will I be revisiting this one again? Perhaps a little further down the line... In the mean time, I wish the developers luck...

Do not go into this VN/Game thinking it is hugely story based, as it is mostly a grinder, with some story elements added in here and there... I've seen this basic plot concept used before in another VN/Game I tried a while back... But I don't believe that other VN/Game ever got beyond it's initial stages... Perhaps this one is a re-envisioned version of that one? I don't know...

The visuals of the characters are mostly Asian themed, probably using Honey Select, but with higher resolution characters, when compared to the average HS style VN/Game... The backdrops are mostly unique, with only a few I've seen before in other VN/Games, but of higher resolution in this one... The UI is very well done, to include easily discernible activity buttons and stats... Even includes a hide button for the basic school stats... The school navigation map is very good as well... There are a few animations, most of which are very fluid...

The script was very spot on, as I rarely ran into any spelling/grammar erors at all... The setting and plot premise is far fetched and out there, but the story elements are told well, along with decent dialogue and character interaction... Most characters are fairly believable, with only a couple that might be somewhat over the top... The quest system is designed fairly well, and includes both main story quests, as well as student and staff related quests...

The plot revolves around a male protagonist (who's model I've seen many times before) who is a scientist trying to implement a rather outlandish method of corporal punishment and humiliation, as a means to instill discipline on students who are failing in their lessons and/or showing signs of disruptive/rude behavior... With the over all goal of improving their grades through strict control and management of their behavior... Of course, he is slightly a pervert as well, and there is something mysterious about the people who've hired him... The whole setup itself is crazy and outlandish, to include how the government handles it's citizens... But beyond all the, far out there, plot devices used, the developers at least didn't go too far into explaining everything away, and left some information in the imagination of the readers/players...

Now, this VN/Game is primarily a school/student management grinder, with the key fetishes and so forth being domination and humiliation with a dash of corruption to boot... There are some others as well, but those are the main ones... Days are split up into 3 time periods, with various locations to visit and activities to perform... There are basic school stats that gate content, along with varying quests and side stories, not always associated to those stats... You can fail the game, if Discipline and/or Grades fall to zero... And at first, it will be a balancing act trying to raise discipline to at least 20, while keeping the grades from falling too low at the same time... You eventually get to a point, later in the current content, where grades don't go down as often, but it is still something to be concerned with...

The quest system is really your driving force for most main/side story content... Other activities are somewhat repetitive, until newer content is opened up, or added as development continues... You are told when certain content chains have been reached, for the current content, so you don't necessarily need to keep repeating certain things, while not knowing if you've got more to open up... Which was nice...

Initially, the tutorial introduced the punishment system as a mini-game, but after that initial introduction I never saw it come up like that again... I think it may be a work in progress, rather then fully implemented yet... So do not be surprised when you never get to use it again... But, you still get to see most animation sequences, from several angles, which was rather unique and good production value...

Overall, for being a grinder and having a plot that is rather out there, the VN/Game is put together very well... It shows a lot of promise, with it's varying mechanics, events, quest system, and so forth... Even though it is a grinder, with some repetitiveness, it does have some story driven content as well as Visual Novel style events/scenes... Most erotic content revolves around some spanking, a small amount of humiliation now and then, some brief nudity, and some other sexual content either based on choices made, or a couple occasional dream sequences... As this VN/Game is still very early into development, do not expect a huge amount of content... It shows some promise, and my only qualm was really around the outlandish circumstances regarding the main story... Even though it is very befitting of what this VN/Game is trying to represent and achieve... It is definitely not going to be a VN/Game for everyone... And it does lean a bit more towards the porn fest side, then story... Will I revisit this one? Most likely yes, but not for a while... I'll wait and perhaps revisit, once it gets a lot more content under it's belt...

This game looks good and has a very interesting storyline so far, but definitely has a lot of bugs and is missing tons and tons of content. It's early in the development, but I'm not giving this a good review based on potential. Until there are actual h-scenes and far more story included, I would have to say stay away from this for the time being. Right now, this is not a game to bust to whatsoever. Probably by the end of the summer this may be worth your time but I can't imagine beforehand for now. Simply not enough content.

The backstory is well established. Lots of characters who get introduced in a natural fashion. The UI is excellent and navigating doesn't feel like a chore. Good amount of content as well. Camera angles for animations are a big plus. Give it a try.

Played this game for the first time yesterday and must say it is one of the easier yet more involving erotic games I've played to date.

I particularly like the crazy idea the game is set up with and can see where the end is heading but I'm interested to see the rest of the middle. The girls all seem super-cute and have all of their own personalities as do the teachers.

I'm yet to find something I dislike with the game. I reserve 1 star because it is not yet completed.

I originally downloaded this game based solely on the title. I must say that I was extremely disappointed. While the premise of the game was good, I find that the implimentation is not worth continuing with this game. The Extremely limited scenes and actions that are available even after a version 2.2 update is poor and uninspiring. I am unable to advance thew story in any significant fashion, it is always a "in the next upgrade" (same as 2.0) with each upgrade having no significant advancement. all in all, a game that I consider to be very poor in implimentation, even tho the premise is good. Unless the developer significantly increases the actions available, this is not a game aI would personally recommend.

Having spoken with the developer of this game, i feel the need to somewhat revise my original rating and comments. I origibally rated this game 2 stars. While the updates have been somewhat disappointing, I am forced (in a good sense) to now rate it 4 stars. The premise of the game is still good (with minor irritations), and the application is actually 1st rate. I am still VERY very disappointed with theslow buildup, but after having my conversation with the dev, I can understand, now, where he/ she is going with this game. I STILL recommend he/she advance the H scenes a bit more, but I am no longer upset (as much) with the slow movement of the storyline. Does it needimprovement? Yes... but i believe this developer is doing a decent job, so far.

The concept of your protagonists "idears" is verry funy and i don´t realy know if i should take it as a parody or serious!?
But it is fun and i love the charakteres. The gameplay is easy to learn, and the H-scenes are hot (even though for v0.2.2 there are not many).
The "punishment-system" is hot and fun, and i hope to see much more of this game soon! ^^
