Version 0.13 of the headmaster is in the later stages of development and we are now ready to set a release date. We are aiming to release the beta version on August 27th (to all patrons $10 and up). We have made a lot of improvements to the code so we are going to give ourselves a little extra time for beta-testing. Therefore the main release will be on September 10th (to all patrons $5 and up) and a public release on October 8th.

Release Date Announcement

We have made a lot of improvements to the code so we are going to give ourselves a little extra time for beta-testing. There are two main parts to the update. One will see the completion of Rachel’s punishment system to level ten and the exciting conclusion to her storyline. We’ll also see a lot of character development for Sally as she helps the headmaster cure Rachel of her body envy once and for all. The other branch of the update will include the long-awaited after-school staff training sessions. Claire and Debbie will be learning your punishment techniques using Amy as their training dummy. Then they will be putting their newfound skills to use around the school. The headmaster will also need to give Claire an important test to find out how far she is willing to go to master your disciplinary techniques.

We will be making better use of the unnamed background girls in the coming update (hence the 30% more naughty school girls claim) with new patrolling the hall's events and lots more peaking on random girls showering. I invested quite a bit of time in this update cycle improving our animation techniques and training a new animator to use our graphics software, so expect to see another big jump in animation quality. On top of that, there have been numerous quality of life improvements to the main UI, character logs, quest logs, the school board meetings and much more.

I will post a development update shortly for all patrons $5 and up with some more detail about the coming content. Plus there will be one final batch of image previews coming soon to patrons $10 and up.

That would be more than 6 months since the previous release, 7 if we count main release or public release. I hope it has 6-7 months worth of content and not the patreon syndrome most game devs suffer, because it used to be 2-3 months with pre 0.11 patches

Well, Altos had a lot of commotion in his life since last update and also he had to bother with a new organization of his work, considering new people in the team, so it is justified in my opinion. He has now several people helping him so I expect in near future one of three things will happen (maybe mix of them):
1. Quicker updates.
2. Updates will have more content.
3. Updates will have better quality.

Personally I have hope for point 1 or 2 because it will shorten the time to release "completed" version (unless Altos decides to expand scope of the entire game) which interests me most and quality is already good enough for me.
I have observed Altos work since march 2020 and I am pretty sure he works hard.

Or for F95 tags most of the time we only know that at least one picture or scene in one path exist that has the requirement for the tag...
I've been thinking about how nice it would be if tags had a rating on here. I don't know how you get those numbers on the tags (sometimes it feels like a dev throws every tag they can on something just to get more people to look at it so if you let the devs choose their own levels I'm worried they'd set a higher number than is warranted; the other option is to have people vote on it like reviews but I don't know how much engagement that system would get), but it would certainly be helpful in narrowing down the type of game you're looking for.

I also wish tags had a male/female subtag like e-hentai, because I want to know if women or men are doing specific activities and the maledom/femdom tags don't really cut it in making that clear always. I don't mind Ff femdom, but I don't want Fm (and Mm maledom is right out for me), and when you just see "Female Domination, Male Domination, humilation" you don't necessarily know what you're getting into- even the male/female protagonist tags aren't always reliable for figuring out the dynamic.

It's a good concept. There's a lot of devs who try to put in 'something for everyone', but if you're not into, say, sissification and you see the tag, you're left wondering if that's some minor side thing, or the focus of the game...and fair odds you steer clear.

If it was simple to see (without having to dig through pages of posts to maybe find some explanation) it would make a difference.

Development Update 38
Hey guys,
Progress toward the next update continues at a steady pace and we are in the later stages of development now. Everything has been planned out, written and storyboarded in the graphics software and the bulk of the animations have been made. Now I have the task of capturing the remaining final renders, editing the video animations, coding all the images and animations into the script and adding a few bits and pieces of dialogue. Essentially all of the creative work is done and all that's left is the very technical and laborious process of putting it all together. As I announced the other day I have set a date for the beta release as August 27th, with the main release two weeks later on September 10th.

All these ladies will star in the coming update and will each feature in multiple sex scenes.
Previously, I explained how the update would come in two main parts. The first of which would be the completion of Rachel's story arc and her punishment system. I've completely remade all her animations and added the red butt effect for her punishment system. We’ll be going all the way with Rachel in this update. She’ll be reaching level 10 and she'll be getting a little ‘cured’ stamp next to her character profile. That's not to say we won't be seeing more Rachel after this. She'll still have plenty of cross-over scenes with other girls. The second main branch of the update will be the after-school training sessions with Debbie, Claire and Amy. The headmaster's relationship with Claire will take a fairly central focus, as will his efforts to persuade her to engage in sexual activities with the girls. As I started writing this storyline it became a little more complex than I originally intended, as is usually the case. So, some of this storyline may over-run into version 0.14. However, I promise that there will be plenty to enjoy and things will be hot and steamy right from the get-go. Choosing preview images for the release announcement that were safe for a Patreon public post was a real struggle this time, as Rachel and Amy are naked pretty much constantly throughout their respective storylines.

Claire will finally start to have a positive effect on discipline in the next update as she puts her new punishment skills to use on her English class.
As I mentioned before we are going to see a lot more of the unnamed background girls in the coming update too, including several new models we haven’t seen before. We’ve got a few new patrol events featuring these girls plus lots of extra animations when peeking on the girls in the showers. These girls will also feature heavily when Claire and Debbie start to use their newly-acquired punishment skills around the school. I am sure a few people will be complaining that there are too many girls already and I need to focus on the named characters. To those people I would explain that; a) by the game’s very nature we need a fairly constant stream of girls to strip and embarrass and you can never have too many; b) these girls serve a specific purpose which is to allow more random encounters (for punishments, uniform inspections body searches etc) without interfering with any of the main girls' storylines, they won’t be getting character profiles or storylines of their own; and c) the majority of the new images and animations with these girls were not made by me and were partly used for training purposes for my new animator, Gegecucu. So all these scenes can be seen as a happy bonus that had no significant effect on the production speed of the major storylines. Really a win-win situation all around. Expect to see a lot more fun little mini-events in future updates as they can be worked on easily by our team while I am focused on writing.

Apart from the new content, there are going to be a lot of other changes in the new version. The addition of new members to the team has meant a complete overhaul in the way the game is being produced. I’ve always been very limited in the amount I could tackle in each update. Writing a novel's worth of branching dialogue along with hundreds of images and animations takes time and single-minded dedication. There are certain aspects of the game which are badly in need of improvements that I have just never had the resources to go back and change. Thanks to extra manpower now at our disposal we have started to go back through earlier parts of the game in order to improve gameplay and user experience. For example, in the latest version, we will be aiming to completely rebalance the game’s economics. We’ve lowered the monetary value of almost all of the items and construction projects based on extensive playtesting. The headmaster’s salary will now increase when certain rules are introduced that the school’s owners approve of. The way discipline and popularity points are awarded is also being changed to help those players who struggled balancing points in the early game. Parts of the game have been completely recoded to remove a lot of the “baked in” text from parts of the UI. For example, all of the rules at the school board meeting used to be text on images but this has been changed to all be coded text instead. This makes things a lot easier for the translation team, and it also makes it much quicker and easier to add new rules. A lot of these changes won’t have a huge impact on gameplay straight away. However, the groundwork that's going on at the moment will allow for a lot more exciting changes in the future with more complex and rewarding gameplay.

The school board meeting has been improved to indicate when new rules are available as well as the current influence and discipline points.
It is because of these changes to the early game that we are looking to have a longer beta period this time around, as we want to give players the chance to play through again from the beginning. Of course, old saves will still work, as always, and there will be no need to go back to the beginning. We’ve also now added a skip to chapter 2 feature, for those that want to restart from the point at which the headmaster is allowed to punish the girls himself.

Over the last few updates, I’ve invested a significant amount of my time on improving the quality of our animations and I’ve talked about this quite a bit in previous development updates. You will have already seen for yourselves that our animation quality has improved dramatically over recent updates and v13 will be no different. Back at the start of this update cycle, I spent a few weeks making a bunch of practice sex animations using the new animation technique. You’ll be able to see some of these practice animations in the in-game porn website, which you can now watch with Rachel. Although this slowed down the development of this version, it proved to be time well spent. I was able to figure out how to animate things which I couldn’t before, such as the girls' lips moving for better bj animations, or the girls' vaginas moving for much better penetration animations. I was also able to pass on that knowledge to our team. This led to a big jump in both the number and quality of animations in this update.
Looking ahead to beyond the coming update. Version 0.14 will feature Faye as the main star. Just as I used Priti’s update as a way to add content for the cafeteria, I will be doing the same with Faye and the volleyball games. Keeping the girls' delicate skin protected from the sun while they are wearing their skimpy volleyball uniforms will be at the forefront of the headmaster’s mind. In addition, I will also be holding another poll to decide which side story to have alongside Faye’s content. The elephant in the room for versions 0.12 and 0.13 has been the absence of any content for Lucy. Things were really heating up with our dutiful young maid the last time she had significant content in version 0.11. After that version, I held a poll on which side stories to work on next alongside Priti's. I deliberately left Lucy off the list on that poll because I knew Priti's story would be difficult to write and taking on two complex storylines at the same time didn't seem like a good idea. I feel that I can manage to do Faye's storyline and Lucy's in version 0.14 so the option for her content will be back on the table. However, a decision as important as that should really be left to a poll as there are plenty of other characters and storylines to choose from. Bringing the twins' content forward, the advanced sex-ed classes or the nudist beach to name just a few examples.
So, in summary, a big crowd-pleasing update is just around the corner, with loads of content that people have been waiting patiently for. Only about seven weeks to go now before the beta release. Not only that but the game has moved into an exciting new phase of development and both the size and quality of our updates will be increasing significantly going forward. I still have one final batch of image previews to share later this week and I will aim to have one more development update next month before the release. I am considering one extra in-character poll before version 0.13, however, that will be dependent on how much I can get done over the next few weeks.

I know it is heretical to say anything negative on this thread. I fully understand the danger. And I understand it seems ungrateful, etc. I also understand this is a great game. But the next update...sounds meh to me. I have gone about as far as I would like turning Rachel into a cat. I have no interest in giving her a tail, and the fact the scientist has repeatedly mentioned experimenting with animal DNA always made me nervous. I pray we are not heading there. Furthermore, the whole Amy as a training dummy leaves me cold too--I always thought that plotline was misguided. Not interested in training a harem of disciplinarians. Also, I would like to see progress with some of the others. (Yes, I am glad we will get some more varied images, but I expected that anyway.)

And while I am at it--in for a penny in for a pound, as they say!--Donna is completely over the top with the heiress thing. I would prefer that toned down. It is so OT it is immersion breaking and it is also inconsistent with her earliest scenes where she is quite nice actually.

So, that is just my view. I am allowed to say it!!! I am looking forward to Faye's update (though I fear pace has slowed and that may be Spring) and learning more about Nina sometime!

2. Disagree with you on Amy. She is literally the ideal student for a game that revolves around BDSM, a nymphomaniac masochist. I mean the game is about inflicting pain and pleasure through sex, and you mean to tell me that you are "not interested in training a harem of disciplinarians."
3. Emphatically disagree with you on Donna. I want her to be even more of a stuck-up bitch, all the more satisfying when you finally put her in her place. I don't see any inconsistency with her being nice and then hating you, she quite correctly surmises that you are a creep and want to get in her pants.

However her unawareness is a bit over the top, especially in the "Duchess in the kitchen" event, where she assumes that her being summoned to the cafeteria is about her getting better food than anybody else - which there is no indication that will happen, after weeks (months) of not being treated like she deserves. Thinking she deserves better is one thing, still thinking she will be treated as the special person she is should not really happen anymore, at least not to that degree.

And yeah, with Rachel I am torn. I generally like the character but I am not so much into pet play, so I get the reservations Roblet has about it.

I hope not. I mean if you came in screaming "everything here is garbage as garbage can be, dialogue is stupid, graphics look ugly" without even mentioning why then you might get fired at. If you complain about stuff in this game that are its essentials and should be known beforehand (like sandbox gameplay, emphasis on punishment) then you certainly would because then this game just wouldn't be for you. If you however point out specific points, as you did, and calmly explain without stamping on the ground like a toddler in the check out line, then we can have a reasoned discussion. I doubt anybody here is completely happy with every aspect of the game or the characters, as it's Altos' game and he has a different taste than anybody else when we go into the specifics. (Actually I doubt anybody has the "perfect game" where he wouldn't like things to be changed.)

Fair point about Donna, but I think her being "over the top" is fine in a game when many of the characters are as such... Susan Chang comes to mind.

All feedbacks are welcome if they are constructive and yours is, so don't worry
This update will mainly bring new content to 'old' characters (Rachel, Amy, Debbie, Sally and Claire). They were the very first characters to be developed so 'concluding' (or at least, moving forward significantly) their stories seems needed.
If you're fearing about furry stuff, don't worry. Rachel having for some scenes cat ears and and a butt-tail will be the max you get!
Regarding the discipline lessons, my vision is that the objectives are to bring new content for Amy, and to move forward on Claire and Debbie's stories.

Regarding Nina, her story will be tied to Faye's. So they'll both get content in parallel.

From the opening sequence, the Headmaster's goal has been to get his brand of discipline practiced by every educator in the country. That's why Ms. Swallows and Mr. Cummings come to the school for the demonstration and why he demonstrated it at the education conference that ended up getting him fired from his previous position.

Just so you know - Dev hired more people, now that they are in a new country, can access Patreon money (due to Russian banking embargo), and done some other team changes, they stated they should have quicker updates. It is a problem when you have a huge game and an single point of failure (ie. one person doing all the work), which they are addressing.
I was under the impression that Altos was a jolly old Brit? I remember something akin to what you write from House in the Rift ...

Yep, Altos is british.
And he did not specifically said that the updates will be quicker (we cannot promise that), but they will have for sure more content and with a higher quality.
A bigger team will allow Altos to focus more on writing and creating major scenes, while the rest of the team can work on improving the game code, fixing the bugs + continuity issues and rendering/animating other scenes (including extra events so that the world feels more alive).
