For many games, there are so many variables, options, statuses, etc., that it would be impossible to do that without just giving a generic save that may not have everything you want in it, or giving 20 saves to accomodate all the available pathways... it would just become a logistical nightmare. This game may not be quite in that bracket, but there are still scores to consider and some choices that will determine some of what you continue seeing later in the game, etc.
Also, this is just a generalisation, anyway, right? All the message here said was that due to a Ren'Py change/issue, auto saves won't work, but manual/quick saves still will. So not the dev breaking the save at all, and also no problem to actually be worried about here, unless you only use auto saves (which is surely not something people actually do, is it?).

I wonder what is planned for Olivia, Jasmine or Arabella. Those really caught my Interest when they were introduced. Some small tidbit with Charlotte would be nice again, too.
Especially as Olivia, Arabella and Jasmine really got into the school on short notice and/or unusual ways. I can't wait for the HM to handle those three in the way only he can.
(Sometimes i really admire the mental gymnastics performed in the dialogues)

Have you had the patrol events with Charlotte? There are two where she is smoking, and you might need to get both of them - I think it's the second one that shows Harriet selling smokes to Charlotte.

Plus, it is a beta. Never judge an update by its beta. (And never delete/overwrite your old save when you got a save from a beta version because that may be borked.) If you have FOSO (Fear of starting over), avoid anything beta or similar completely.

There are surely only two reasons to be playing the beta anyway - testing for the developers, and impatience. The latter isn't a good reason.

Don't doubt people in general. If you can do something it will be done if your sample size is big enough. Therefore, I'm pretty sure, some people only use autosave.
If the development through all of the game project is linear - then yes. Unfortunately like with the "endangered species" campaign, the dev has shown that it isn't that easy.
And this. The Headmaster isn't THAT much convoluted in terms of paths the player can take (unlike some other games), but there is some field for the the player to maneuver through choices, decisions and the order of things (unless specifically gated by the dev).
100%. Normally, for the classic development process you wouldn't be playing the game unless you are part of the dev team or contracted to test it (for monetary gain or not). Development process where you release unfinished product in sequential patches to give incentive to the players to pay you before the game is finished is aimed for those who don't have money and want to make a game (and live off of that). All the backers are beta testers (and if its patches are released for $0 later on, the casual "freeloader" who DL'ed it for free also is such a beta tester) and that's it. If you want the finished product without bugs, unfinished content, repeatedly returning and playing it over and over due to content embedded into earlier parts than the canonically most recent events...You don't have permission to view the spoiler content.

Doubt they check for bug reports here but I had to start a new save for this version and I've found a few things from older content that seems broken now. The porn watching during paperwork doesn't work and watching tv with the students at night is also broken. Guess that's what I get for playing the beta version, it's just surprising that whatever they added would fuck this older stuff up.

I love this game, and only one thing about it annoys me. Once you cross a threshold with with a student, BJ, HJ, Sex, what have you, I'd really like a separate replayable scene that wasn't the story scene. As an example, I shouldn't have to go through the story scene every time I want to have sex with Rachel, or go through the story scene every time I want a BJ from Priti. This is one of the best games actively being updated, but that feature would make it even better.
