Go into your last download go to the game folder and copy the patch rpy into the new download in the game folder. It works every time.

but it's not a sandbox...it's more like: there are moments where you must go around a little to see all the scenes...

if that's sandbox for you...even Life is Strage 1(which is basically a walking-simulator) is a sandbox for your standards
