I'm 99% sure that in the game so far, the stats haven't changed anything, so there's no real need.

There's no need for that.
Those stats have no real impact in the game, they're just meant to activate your gamer brain.

Might they have meaning later on? I've been hoping that once the game hits a certain point, it might become more of a sandbox where the player can bounce back and forth between different areas and then need certain levels to activate scenes and content.

Even so, that's not going to be one of THOSE sandboxes.
I hate that kind of gameplay and don't want to inflict that pain even on my worst enemy.
