I played with the mod the entire time. This update, I only got Robin and Polly. How did this happen. I won't go back and play it over to pick up points. I like this game, and was EXTREMELY unsatisfied and unhappy.

Get URM, edit your points, be happy.

Yeah, I already have URM. I've gone through everything, but don't see how to edit points.
Find the variables for like and love. Easiest way is to check the choices (click choices detected upper left and identify the choice that gives a bonus. In the current URM version you can simply clicking the variable name to edit the value.

I'm wonder what the logic is of others hearing what the shadows say, including when it's meant for the MC. Sorta like hiding hints. Obviously, that was pre-established before the growth/logic dynamic presented itself. Theoretically, the MC should be higher attuned to the environment and more perceptive/aware of things that directly impact him, within the context laid before us.

As far as I can tell there's no qi generated with sending on Robin. Is that intentional?

I don't know about you, but I use the Multi-Mod. I had the same end points, but no Mira ending option. So I sat down and held CTRL for an hour to skip through a fresh start and got the the very end again, whereupon I had the exact same Mira points but this time her ending was selectable. So yeah, probably some sort of bug carried over from an earlier version of the game and/or mod.

If you want, I took that save and ZIP'd it up for you or anybody else who wants it. Again, this is a save made using the Multi-Mod, so make sure you have that installed as well, lest there be incompatibility issues. The save is at the last frame when The Cycle asks how you want to end the transmigration. Also, not for nothing, but the save is on page 138, slot 6 (cause that how many saves it takes to get to the end of the game when you save at every decision point). If you want, you can try renaming the file and just let it overwrite any existing saves if you find that easier.
That's what I suspect. Thanks for the saves. You're awesome and a lifesaver.

You should get Qi for each of the women you send on.

The Qi amount = 'like points' x1 + 'Love points' x2

I play unmodded and have had no issues with getting Qi from sending on each of the women.

There was a post on Patreon addressing a bug with robins qi missing a while ago, but it should have been fixed.

Behind the Scenes: The Interim Domain Notes October 27, 2024


With The Interim Domain coming to a close, we felt it was time to throw out some facts and revelations about the project and its development.

Before The Interim Domain, there was Peach County

As a follow-up to Now & Then, we wanted to do something with a larger cast. Maybe a more slice-of-life story. So, we started work on Peach County, about a guy sent off to college in another town. We got as far as a rough alpha (see the screenshots below) before dumping this idea. Frankly, the game was boring as fuck to write and I didn't want to wait for six updates to be done to start getting to something interesting.

So, we scrapped the main concept, kept the characters and many of the storylines, and merged it with a plot treatment I'd worked on about a decade ago jokingly called "The Non-Denominational Endtimes". Working the two concepts together, a number of things got dropped or majorly altered for the final product.

  • Marisa was a college student
  • Allison was your aunt and you lived with her
  • Kara, Mina, Saaya, and Chira were all going to be background characters with no story of their own
  • Selene was brought in from the plot treatment and was a nihilist who only wanted the world to be nothing at all

There is a semi-working build of the first six in-game days that will never see the light of day.

Last Second Name Change

Just as we were about to release 0.01.0, we decided to change the name from The Interim Dominion to The Interim Domain. It just felt a little less wordy. Sometimes phrases don't roll off the tongue right. This was one of those.

Some scenes were locked in from day one
As usually happens when you're working on a story, things change as the story flow alters and you see that certain elements just don't work out anymore (as we've mentioned in this very article). Some moments were so essential to certain characters that everything leading up to them had to be built to feed into those scenes.


  • Rescuing Robin from her father
  • Marisa learning about Walt
  • All the stuff with Tina in the girls locker room
Other ideas were changed radically
Yeah, some things just don't work out the way you want. And some threads weren't worth following.


  • There was an option where Sammy and Bud ended up together. This felt too much like a bad ending for her.
  • A lot of theological debate intended in the original plot treatment wasn't appropriate for a VN.
  • Content at the Men's Club in Anita's story could've been a lot darker, but we figured implying it was for the best.
A lot of Sammy's story was written "ad-libbed"
With so many characters to work on at any given time (and man were there months where the writing/rendering load was taking us to task), there might have been a few days where we were struggling to come up with inspiration. We knew that Sammy's story would be about her and Bud and the expectations from their parents. But, some of the day-to-day moments needed to be brainstormed at the last second, more so than any other character. In the end, I think we did well to give her a solid and complete arc that went to locations most of the others avoided.

Apollyon wasn't originally in the cards
Of course, we had to fill the Interim with weird characters and each of the Archons needed their Entede handler. So, wanting to make use of the Invisible Body mods and taking inspiration from flame-headed characters (Ifrit, Candlejack, Candlemaker), we gave Edd someone to work with. Of course, being able to see Apollyon without the mod led to a conversation about "human forms" and her character and role quickly changed, because how you gonna keep that under wraps, am I right?

Combo scenes gave us a way to include unlockable scenes and threesomes
A part of intended design for the middle portion of the game was having Michael link characters to others, so that we could have more crossover between the stories. To implement this, we added combo scenes to the rotation, first opting for moments where two girls might hang out together as friends.

Crazy to think we almost didn't get Apollyon! She was definitely a highlight.

And the original game did sound boring. I'm glad they went for a more unique concept.

And yeah Bud definitely seemed like a bad end for Sammy, at least the way he was in this game.

I also liked how many combination scenes we got, and they were more than simply threesomes and were instead interactions between the women.

I also enjoyed the short scenes where women reflected on what was happening in the story and what they were thinking about stuff.

I think this 'Behind the Scenes' post by the dev is a great example of creating the story for an AVN.

The original story did not work and Kinderfeld recognized it.

He took part of this original creation and put it into another story he had written a decade ago, coming up with a unique story and deep characters.

For those who write/create - I think this is a goood reminder that earlier writing is not a waste - it is practice.

Some of that practice might even be a diamond in the rough and both life experiences and time will give the writer a chance to turn that story into a gem - which is what Kinderfeld did.

The Interim Domain 0.31.0 Update 1

Here we are. To answer some questions that have come up in the past month, yes 0.31.0 is the last update of planned content for The Interim Domain, including the following items:

  • Selene Ending
  • Allison Ending
  • Anya Ending
  • No One Ending
  • Unlock All Feature for the gallery
  • Two Combo Scenes (more on this next update)
This won't be the final build. We will still have some work to clean up the script and code and any continuity issues that remain in the game. After the Director's Cut of Now & Then, we told ourselves we wouldn't do a major rework of a game ever again. But, based on feedback and the inclusion of difficulties and the playful (at the time) threat of a Hard Mode, we will be putting out a 0.99.0 build with a reward for finishing the game in said Hard Mode.
So, the plan is to shift our main focus to TOXICity in December, while working on the 0.99.0 of TID in the background. Considering the amount of content we're looking to add (which includes a ton of new scenes planned), this will take a while to pull together. If you recall, Now & Then's Director's Cut launched almost a year after the previous release, so use that as a benchmark. If it makes you feel better, we already have parts of four scenes either written or partially shot.
As for TOXICity, we'll discuss more about that in the following updates. Right now, we're trying to get a solid UI together so that the initial package feels somewhat close to the product should be going forward.
