What's the point of trying to save someone if everyone is already dead? Why should he sleep, have sex or anything else?

So far the game logic seems to be that "saving" them unlocks their qi (spiritual energy) which, if MC unlocks more than any other archon will allow him to shape the next world to one of his choosing. Which I suppose would allow him the power to see that the girls he's invested in do not just cease to exist. What's the point of trying to save someone if everyone is already dead? Why should he sleep, have sex or anything else?
Indeed. Writing lusty girls into his porn game is quite worrisome.I miss 'Now and Then' a lot. All the girls were so lovable except Hana and Sydney. When this game was announced I was really Excited. I wanted more girls like Carol but ended up getting girls like Hana.
Looks like dev always liked sluts and this time he decided to just show everyone what he likes. Sometimes it doesn't even feel like dev of 'Now and Then' and this game are same but then I remember he also wrote girls like Hana and Sydney.
Saving them, is what MC needs to do to get power as an Archon. And as this game deals with an obvious afterlife. That'd be the reason, to allow them to go to that afterlife. What's the point of trying to save someone if everyone is already dead? Why should he sleep, have sex or anything else?
Yeah, i really miss N&T, one of my favorite games.I miss 'Now and Then' a lot. All the girls were so lovable except Hana and Sydney. When this game was announced I was really Excited. I wanted more girls like Carol but ended up getting girls like Hana.

Yeah, i really miss N&T, one of my favorite games.
But i don't really think that's the case. I wouldn't call any of the LI's a slut, or even slutty, even the one which works in the strip club...well, maybe the sports girl is a bit on the slutty/wild side.
But in N&T the girls were just as horny (including Carol), or on the pervert side in case of Naomi, i really don't think there is much of a difference in that regard.
Imo the difference is in the loveable part you mentioned, the connection to the characters, the relationship with them and the overall story.
Everything of that falls flat compared to N&T, especially the LI's and the relationship with them.
We are 9 ep's in and i don't really care about any of the LI's, neither about the drama about the ex. Pretty much the complete opposite of N&T.
My thoughts on why it fails where N&T succeed.

I completely agree with whatever points you two mentioned story related.Agree.
This why I have been saying how it's hard to get myself hooked on this game compare to the devs other and successful title in N&T.
It just the writing, characters, setting, and the mc don't add up to the ones from N&T.
Now I did say it's unfair to compare the 2 but when the dev had such a good game in N&T, most of our expectations were high.
You really don't care about the characters here like at all, I cannot get emotional attached or invested into them.
I wouldn't say they come off as sluts but I do see what you are saying tho. I perfer more of a carol type too..
yea she was horny, well, most of everyone was horny in N&T but atleast she did not come off as a slut.
And majority of the other girls were good too and well written.
I also feel the focus is also what played a big part in N&T compared to this one.
the mc wake up and we get this sandbox pick and choose what girl to focus on then the next compared to how N&T most of the girls stories tied in with the main story.
Yea they all had their own problems just like in this game but it made you feel for them and follow along for the ride.
This game has failed to hook me in even after trying multiple times.. Yes I should probably give up and move on but I am over here hoping it will get better and hook me in and NOPE, still cannot.
Overall I find the story boring and unappealing, same with the characters.
and this is no knock to the dev, it's obvious the man has talent and he proven it with N&T, but I feel like this one dropped the ball.
Like one guy said, it feels like a chore to play, especially when having to play the therapist of these girls who died with there problems and we gotta play the problem solver to help them move on which kills any emotional investment because they are passing on.
so what's the point?
I completely agree with whatever points you two mentioned story related.
There's no deep connection with girls. In N&T we already had established relationships with Carol, Naomi and Alice and then there were flashback scenes which made them much more closer.
Here? Girls first open their pants before opening up about their feelings. Whenever a girl turned into remnants my only reaction was 'oops'. You already know all are dead so you loose half of your interest there itself.
Now about slutty girls, Carol and Naomi were horny but were also virgins. That means we never had to hear anything about their past sex life. Alice wasn't a Virgin but even she didn't go into details or was open to fuck just like that.
Here? We already have Hana 2.0 "You can fuck me but you can't kiss me". There's that business girl and strip club girl who just fucked MC just like It was nothing. A girl who fucked a random in a party and there's a prostitute.
There are 2 virgins. One of them is completely fucking clueless about sex and the other one went into details about how she used to fool around with her ex bf.
I like virgins and I know not every girl can be a virgin but maybe keep those details to themselves? How many they fucked? How long has it been since they fucked? Why do I need to know those details in something I can't get around.
idk i stopped playing this after some time, but i did not saw much story that game looked more like bunch of random ministories from dead girls with some sex...lost interest probably in few updates cause of that.I think that most of the comments about this game are...misplaced, at least in my opinion. "Now and Then" was, first and foremost, a relationship story that was set against the backdrop of very common trope - a zombie apocalypse. The post-apocalyptic setting served as a set of tools for Kinderfeld to use to bring characters together, create the situations that allowed them to develop relationships and the crises that they need to overcome to strengthen those relationships. It was very well done and I loved it, but it differed from hundreds of other VNs only in the quality of execution.
"The Interim Domain" is, on the other hand, a relatively fresh idea in the realm of Sci-Fi / Fantasy and certainly for a VN. I like the premise, want to find out more about the universe and I assumed from the beginning that we would never get 'close' to the people in the Domain because it's the MC's task to help them move on, not fuck all of them - they were meant to be transient from the outset. I think that the groundwork has been laid to get 'close' to Mira, but I don't care about that unless it serves to drive the story forward.
I think the simplest way of putting this is that people looking for "Now and Then" v2.0, with a focus on 'the girls' might be disappointed but people like me, that are looking for a fresh universe to learn about, are going to like it. And that's fine because I think that VNs don't have to appeal to everyone, and of course, don't.
I also think that, based on statements by Kinderfeld, that he has a story to tell and he's probably not going to make some kind of mid-course correction to make "The Interim Domain" more like "Now and Then"...but then only Kinderfeld knows for sure. I, for one, hope he doesn't.
If you quit playing it then you really don't know about how the story has progressed, do you? And I doubt many players are helping the girls for the sake of sex scenes. I know I pick and choose the girls I am keeping up with because I like that girl's story. Or, more accurately choose which girl to NOT keep up with because I'm NOT as interested in her story compared to the others.idk i stopped playing this after some time, but i did not saw much story that game looked more like bunch of random ministories from dead girls with some sex...lost interest probably in few updates cause of that.
mostly i dont probably see much reason to invest time to play game where u are helping random girls (wich are not even practicaly romanceable) cause there will be some sex scenes....(can turn on porn video for that)
of course i cant know how story is going, but why i would continuing when it is not interesting? to only know how bad it can be later? If you quit playing it then you really don't know about how the story has progressed, do you? I was intrigued by the setting at the beginning of the game. Somewhat non-plussed by the sandbox feel it started to develop (still non-plussed by that, tbh) but I do think the story development outside of the various girls' vignettes has been a lot better the last couple of updates. Though now due to the nature of the sandbox-y "more episodes available than you can see at the moment, so pick and choose your girls to focus on" it's starting to get into dangerous ground with things happening that interlink the vignettes with the main story, but involve dealing with things in the main story that a player may not have even seen yet due to not diving deep enough into a particular girl or other's story.
Yeah, OK - you seem to know more about the way Kinderfeld is going to play out the story than anyone else, who am I to question that. But it seems pretty self-contradictory to say you don't play it anymore but don't like how it's developing. I get you didn't like what you saw, and that's fine. You didn't see what you didn't see.of course i cant know how story is going, but why i would continuing when it is not interesting? to only know how bad it can be later?
what story? there is same shit again and again...stripper what doesnt want be stripper and MC will save her....girl who is blackmailed cause sex tape ...atc...
why helping some dead energy...main point is to get her out of your life.. and take "her" energy. (not exactly LI) (just some random fuck at the end.)
but someone could like that short stories, just not for me i guess.
and yes it looked interesting from start but became boring realy quickly...it is sad cause i realy liked now and than for example there was at least some LIs and story
I don't really believe it will end that way. The plot seems to be evolving so that MC is going to be the winning Archon, because, you know, it's a game and people like to "win" games, and when he becomes the winner he'll have the power to shape the next world. I don't get why so many people just assume all the vignette characters (LIs, if you will) will simply cease to be. If MC has the power, and he gets truly invested in (at least some of) them, why would he allow that? With the reveal about Allison/Mira in this last episode, it seems clear that even a human who is not in the Domain to be moved on can still exist. It almost feels like the exact opposite of the "moving on" scenario is playing out for the MC - he's growing more attached to his life than less, due to the girls. If that's what's happening, then it wouldn't be a huge stretch to say the ID couldn't end at all unless he keeps them with him (assuming he's the winning Archon, of course.) That's just my speculation but it seems to be fairly consistent with the rules of the ID as we've seen them slowly being explained.... it's a literally "Interim Domain" and all your "relationships" here are temporary and will go into nothing.
...
But understanding that they all will eventually be gone breaks the moment somewhat.
cause that is how it is going all time (from what i played so far) u die and your energy will be "restarted" not that u will continue living again in new worldI don't really believe it will end that way. Again, for someone who quit playing and hasn't played the last update you sure think you know everything about what has happened and will happen as the game continues. As I said, the story development in the last couple of episodes has been much better than the first 6-7, and yes, things are changing. Each Archon is the champion of a particular group/sect/belief system, but in the end it is the Archon, not the group he represents, that remakes the next world as he sees fit.cause that is how it is going all time (from what i played so far) u die and your energy will be "restarted" not that u will continue living again in new worldnew world, new live, new memories atc...( was told that is was happening all time but this time it was only earlier than it should happend and how much from previouse live ppl remember?)
but could be diferent as MC will be making new world...(but if i am correct MC will not do this cause he is collecting this energy not for him but for other "person"...he is only his/her champion) but maybe something changed. (tought that there are more "archons" and they chosed their champions like that guy who was killing to get energy (what is probably more efective way to win this competition and could not imagine that MC will collect more with wasting time and "days" with that dead persons )
but maybe i am wrong after some time i just used ctrl and than quicking game.
he would aloov it simply cause he is "employe" and his job is collect enought energy.
well yep probably only u know where it is going and that mc will shape new world not his "master" cause normaly "employes" are making decisions. it is nice to be cheerleader and hoping for best, like that he will "save" his girls for new life even when they are dead and only stucked in interim cause their "problems" wich when are solved MC absorve their power and they vanish...that same energy wich MC need collect to winAgain, for someone who quit playing and hasn't played the last update you sure think you know everything about what has happened and will happen as the game continues. I'm not even sure why you're still posting if you quit playing a while ago, but even if you hadn't admitted to it your outdated idea of the overall storyline is pretty telling.
I'm sure I don't know where the game is going better than anyone else, never claimed I did. I also never claimed I knew what story development there has or hasn't been in episodes I've never played. I guess since I'm not that special I'll have to just wait until the episodes come out and play it to see how close I guessed.well yep probably only u know where it is going and that mc will shape new world not his "master" cause normaly "employes" are making decisions. it is nice to be cheerleader and hoping for best, like that he will "save" his girls for new life even when they are dead and only stucked in interim cause their "problems" wich when are solved MC absorve their power and they vanish...that same energy wich MC need collect to win
true is that i posted here cause ppl here are sharing their oppinions about game (good/bad/neutral) that is what forum is made for, not for cheerleading
and honestly i responded for replying me mostly so far.
of course lot of could changed and noone know what dev will do in next update cause honestly there is not much information from dev about game...and by this religion/mystery story plot anything can happend.
i did not spoken that i know what will happend, i just talked about what i played and how it looks like....and i played game, only not all releases cause it started to be boring and anoying after some timeI'm sure I don't know where the game is going better than anyone else, never claimed I did. If you'd notice, I'm not just cheerleading the game. I have my fair amount of complaints about the game design, and like many I definitely feel like it's a bit of a letdown coming off N&T. But I did take exception to your comments about the state of the game when you haven't even played to be able to judge.
Regardless, I'm done with this now. Have a good day.
