Hello friends!
Sorry for not publishing a post on Monday. I planned to solve my problems over the weekend, but I haven't succeeded yet. So I'm writing today to at least keep you updated. But let's start with the most important thing - the update.
I've
decided to release 0.11.7 for all support levels, if you don't mind. Initially, I wanted to keep it only in Beta, and release the entire chapter for everyone else. But, firstly, it's unclear when I'll be able to solve the problems with Daz Studio, and secondly, I really want to hear your opinion about this update. I still can't work in isolation without getting feedback.
Update release schedule:
- 17.04 - Level 3
- 22.04 - Level 2
- 27.04 - Level 1
I hope you'll like the update. I made some unusual decisions while creating it, but everyone who played says it turned out well. We'll see what you say.
Don't forget to leave reviews!
I'm currently working on version 0.11.8. Half of it has already been sent for translation. The size is quite substantial. In terms of text, this version will be even bigger. If all goes well, the Beta will be ready by the end of next week.
That's basically everything I wanted to tell you directly about the game. Next, I'll tell you about the problems I faced while making this update.
It all started with
Renpy. In this update, I prepared some cool animations, and some of them were conceptually unusual. I wanted the animations to follow one after another, creating a kind of long video. And in my old version of Renpy, this couldn't be done. I tried in a new version and, it seemed to work fine there. So I rebuilt the game for the new version. And... it still didn't work there either!
I don't know why, but it just didn't work, no matter how many times I tried. Well, okay. It's disappointing, of course, but I redesigned the animations into a simpler version. But then a new problem emerged! With the new version of Renpy, the game wouldn't update on
Android. It turned out that
Android players would have to replay the game from the beginning. So I had to go back to the old version of Renpy. Now everything works fine, but nobody will give me back my lost time.
And now the main problem!
Daz Studio. If anyone doesn't know, this is the main program I work with.
For a long time, I worked in an old version of the program - 4.16. And I was satisfied with it. But at some point, I learned about new features that appeared in the latest versions of the program. And they seemed useful to me. So I decided to update the program. Oh! I shouldn't have done that... After I updated, it turned out that I also needed to update the Nvidia drivers. I hadn't done that for many years either, since I haven't had time for games for a long time, which means I didn't particularly need new drivers.
And after I updated everything... nothing would render anymore. No, the render itself would start. But after some time, Daz would start rendering not on the graphics card, but on the processor. And this takes hundreds of times longer and is completely wrong. That is, what renders on the graphics card in 20-30 minutes can take tens of hours on the processor.
And I tried everything to solve this problem. I reinstalled different versions of Daz Studio, including my old one, reinstalled and removed all possible drivers, cleaned the registry, nothing helped.
Although I'm exaggerating. I was able to get Daz to render static frames, but it still renders animations through the processor. That is, it makes the first frames of animation through the GPU, but then still transfers the load to the CPU.
I don't know how to solve this yet. The only idea is to reinstall Windows. But how I don't want to do that... I'll have to reinstall all the databases, scripts, set everything up again. It will take so much time... I was planning to reinstall everything only when I finish TIF, buy a new computer and start a new game. And now I don't even know what to do...
In general, while I don't need animations, I will continue making the update and try to solve the problem with Daz. I hope I can do it...
Remember the main rule of working with a PC: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"
Thank you for listening to my whining. I hope I didn't burden you too much.
AND THANK YOU for your support, which has barely dropped during the time I spent fighting with my computer. This means a lot to me.
And it really motivates me to keep working, despite everything!
Looking forward to your opinion about the update!
