Not only did the flowers begin toward the start of the game, the flowers are the key to the entire story. They are what started the real trouble. If you do not remember, you should go back and check again. It is really important. It explains (almost) everything.If I remember correctly, weird shit with the flowers started from the beginning of the game.
And a completely lifeless resort island with an empty hotel and beaches is a bit alarming.
