It's sad to see. The game started strong but lost steam along the way.

It used to be that we played the guy who took the girl, but now we're constantly playing characters who lose.
And I for one don't like losing. Unless it's hot.
The Shitato scenes are not one of them.
its crazy how many people here absolutely despise arato but glaze kendo meanwhile kendo is so much worse than arato. at least with arato hes upfront about being a scumbag who wants to take your girl from the moment hes introduced meanwhile kendo pretends to be someone hes not until mary falls for him then he turns into an ass towards his own family. i think i figured out why people dont like him though, arato is similar to the good looking rich guy in real life that would be able to steal your girlfriend meanwhile kendo would be the fat dude that would get friend zoned and never have the pull in person to steal someone's girl. they hate arato cause hes the embodiment of what could actually happen in a real life situation.
Personally i prefer the Arato X Mary route cause they just fit well together.

Tbh my main problem with Arato route is...everyone but Arato. Arato after all in both the routes is the same character. Even Mary, we got that she's an universal whore.
But Satoshi becomes...a total retard, even worse than with Kendo, he knows he's being cucked, he knows he will be cucked, he keeps losing and trying again losing more and comes out with the excuse 'I'd be considered less of a men'. To get the final route you have to lose 3 TIMES at the same game and you lose EVERYTIME in the same way, like 'I've been cucked already 2 times, why do not run the same thing AGAIN'.
Shizuka I don't even understand her. In Kendo route she is someone looking for a guy who actually loves her. Here she schemes all the time to get Satoshi lose (drug him in the first scene, 'convince him' with Mary to accept the swing), just when at some point she decides that she wants to help him, THEN changes idea once again when she sees Arato winning.

He is genuinely (and intentionally) an easy to hate character, he's an asshole. And people generally struggle with assholes in media, you can find plenty examples of actors being harassed for the actions of their characters on screen and such.

For me it's because I'm not a fan of coerced NTR as much as corruption NTR. Kendo seduces Mary(albeit very heavy-handedly) and it's entirely her choice to cheat on Satoshi with him. Arato spends his entire time sexually harassing, drugging, and raping her until she gives in.
Also, he and his girlfriend Shizuka are constantly contradicting their own morals and beliefs IMO. They just feel like they are here to fulfill a trope rather than be actual characters.
If the game were only ever Arato, I'd probably be fine with it. But Kendo just represents a much clearer and better defined antagonist to me, that it makes Arato that much worse in comparison.
Since Satoshi have gone through every bad thing that could happen in a relationship (i'm not even sure if it is a relationship) the one and only thing that could make the story more interesting is Arato fucking Satoshi's brains out.

1) Not from start of the game: he introduced in middle of events, when we, as players, created a bonds with other persons.
2) Kinetic Novel: yes, we have a "free roam", but event progression is railroaded and we can`t influence the Arato to change, to become better person in relationship, which brings ...
3) Coerced NTR (Arato) < Corruption NTR (Kendo): the main reason of hate, for most of us, is that part of game, because his way to get a sex is physical (drug) and mental (influence) abuse to the point, when partner can`t resist anymore (Arato, in the end, NTRed Kendo and Satoshi, by fucking Drugged Mary - we can`t prevent that, only stopping from "going further").
4) "2 in 1" Game: Dev tried to create other games with separate story, but, for Arato, he tried to merge his story with main cast, which brings some hates from Kendo fans, for not letting to see "King Event", "King Ending" and, as part of that, v1.0 Finished Game ... and we still won`t see that for half of year, at least.
P.S.: for me, the game is ended - some saves for Kendo Ending + 1 save just before triggering "King Event" and "King Ending" in future, as DLC.
