I think it's why a lot of games start of decent, but end up being.. well, like you said, a snoozefest. And often the story just halts, because every update ends up being 'go on a date with girl 1, 2 and 3.'. Next update: girl 4. 5 6, all the while the overarching plot/story isn't going forward. But yeah, your decisions can end up costing people's lives, characters can be killed off in the story. And branching paths, so choices will matter. I just hope the dev can avoid falling in the trap like so many other devs: overambitious. Too many choices/paths will make certain updates feel small, even if there's plenty of content. People might check out then.
We will see
So far, the dev seems to be knowing what he is doing, having a lot of the story penned out and creating a new path (missed the bus path), while raising money to buy the assets needed for the next update after we arrive in the city.

i was very impressed of the bus ride into the city
so i think the story are based on the last of us

My biggest worry about the development is if dev insisted to continue with the multiple main branches the abcd version of the game where the progression is 1a-2a-3a-4a-5a and so on until the end of season 1. And then go back to 2b, 3b, 4b etc then 2c, 3c, 4c as he said he would. I feel like forward progression is what most players would want, so the return to 2b from 5a, and then 2c from 4b (not sure if there's a 2d to 4d path or not) could potentially mean waiting for a really long time before we get progression from 5a. I feel like it's much more reasonable to only have 2 main branches if that's the way he wanted to do it.
I am very impressed with what we got so far, but it's "only" 1 and 2a. I am really afraid dev might be too ambitious and bite more than he can chew. I hope I'm wrong because this is definitely the best game when it comes to group dialogue and it'd be a shame if the game doesn't reach the end.

There is no version 2a. The version is v0.2.0 which consists of up to Chapter 2a.

I think this game shows more realism, that's for sure, noone waits for whole week before asking stepsis if she is ok and have food like in lust academy, but on other side, i see personality change here drastically depends on answer, which shouldn't always be this strong.
this game is really great lots of real different choices and we dont know how far them bring us... but without walkthrough real pain, but most harem games really stupid cause there really yes and no choices mostly 1 time and you loose it forever
if 1 update takes 6 months, this will takes 3 years, this is without any further setback. i hope the dev realizes this. he's really good at creating believable characters but this whole "you can play with a large degree of freedom" is a bit of a concerning point for me cuz there's so many abandoned renpy games during year 2 or year 3
