That's because he was pretty much betrayed by his own people. The Carthaginians were absolute fools. In the end, they got what they fucking deserved for backstabbing a man like Hannibal. Thankfull Odoacer did what Hannibal was unable to do. And regarding your muhhh We wuz Romanz and shiiieeet, I am pretty sure a half african half arab sicilian hands wrote this.
Nope, I was born and live in Venice in the "Cannaregio" district (northern Italy).
All Italians were part of the great and unique Roman Empire.

I will never understand why some devs choose a very specific historical era instead of just telling a fantasy story that's loosely inspired by real historical events.
I can't play something like that—as someone with a deep understanding of history, it feels like a violation to me, like watching someone stomp through history like a clumsy butcher. I've also never seen an Iranian/Persian woman who looks like a textbook Northern European with naturally light blond hair and blue eyes. Not to mention all the completely unfitting Daz3D medieval era assets.
I agree, it's hard to play the game while seeing so many inaccuracies. the idea is good, but it would be better if the author just placed the story as a fantasy.

As a history buff I really have to faceplant reading these comments. Somehow you're not the only one. Persia is an exonym, meaning it's what foreigners called it. Iran is an endonym, meaning it's what the people themselves called it. It's been called Iran or variations of it for thousands of yours. It's like saying ''there's no such thing as Deutschland it was called Germany''.

Always good to get the facts right..
Well, I think it's a bit more complicated than that. It's not that likely that Arya would have been the term used to designate the empire, since the main language used in the Achaemenid empire during Cyrus' reign was Elamite. Most probably they would have referred to themselves as members of "The Kingdom", and not specifically as Persians either, unless they were from that particular area of the Empire (around Persis itself).

It's really the same with the German example, where Deutschland is actually a 19th century concept... Before that, you had the Prussian Empire, and earlier the Holy Roman Empire and the Alemanni tribes. German is indeed an exonym, but it does predate most of that.

No, I know that's not what you all are here for, but... it's kinda hard to enjoy the smut when the historical mix up is screaming in your brain.

Nope. You got it wrong, friend. There was no such word as Iran during that period. Not in the Aramaic, or any translation thereof. The word, actually words, that applied were Eran and Aryan; depending upon dialect. Check the post by Canto Forte, and you will find a knowledgeable person on the subject with a good suggestion about applying it to the story. Both of the correct words evolved to later become something else. Eran was changed to Iran and became the name of the country in the 1930's. Aryan became the subject of numerous early 20th century writers and evolved into the concept of the master or Aryan race which, in turn, became the a core principle of the Nazi movement.

Always good to get the facts right.

I came for a fap but as a history nerd and iranian myself I ended up enjoying watching you argue more lol.

Most probably they would have referred to themselves as members of "The Kingdom", and not specifically as Persians either, unless they were from that particular area of the Empire (around Persis itself).
They referred to the Empire as the Achaemenid Empire ("Shahanshahe Haxamenishy" or "Haxamenishah" in persian). The word Iranian ("Aryana") first came up during that time describing the Aryan group of people. Aryan was also the word used to describe us until Hitler slapped a bad reputation onto it, now it's "Iranic" in english.
After the Achaemenid Empire however when rulers changed and the people didn't want to change the name of their empire everytime, so the name for land was fixed to Eranshahr (these words are still used to this day in some dialects or context btw) as it was more convenient. Eran = Iran, Shahr = city/country/land. So basically it says "Iranian land".

So to give the best educated guess they probably called themselves either "Haxamenish" (=Achaemenids) due to their empire or "Aryana" (= Iranian) or something similar due to ethnic background. The word Pars (=persian) is a subgroup of Aryana and as a multi ethnic empire probably not used in this context.
Edit: For the empire I'd also say Haxamenish or Iran. Definitely not Persia, that's beyond dispute.

Thanks for listening to my Tedtalk. Have a good fap.

This thread is highly entertaining. I wish the game was too. The perspectives keep jumping around all over the place. Who the fuck am I supposed to be playing as? The zit covered slave kid? If so, there goes Roxanna as a proper LI as she's already trying to fuck guards. Or am I the princess? In which case, how is this about Cyrus as the synopsis alludes to the game being about? Multiple protag?

Whatever the case, watching armchair historians incorrectly describe history and whine about inaccuracies in a janky porn game is peak.

To the Dev,

My respects, Sir, for coming out with something outside of the usual repetitive harem/corruption/mind-control and lust tomes that flood this website.

I see you've created quite a conversation already with your first release. Bravo. I haven't even tried the game yet and admire the arguments you've gotten started. I do hope you can withstand the negative, and sometimes mindless, criticism you will be flooded with. Put your mental shields up and pay attention only to those few who have constructive things to offer. I know. I had the temerity to modify/improve a previously excellent & popular adventure to discover this. Most pirates have no honor at all.

May fortune favor you.
