So basically Kara is a combination of Ronnie Anne(tomboy), Lynn(play sports) and Lincoln(loves video games and comic books). I wish they introduced someone more 'original' though I would love to see male equivalent of fashionista Leni(no, I'm not talking about Loni, her male counterpart seen in One of the Boys episode) or female(and lesbian) version of Miguel.
I can understand this.
But DMF and I after a bunch of discussion, think Kara was brought in BECAUSE they wanted to bring Ronnie Anne back but couldn't.
Let one of the Game Devs talk about the property we're parodying for a moment here.
*Clears Throat*
Loud House was created by Chris Savino, his name is on it, and it's mostly his ideas. Loud House had a co-show runner by the name of Miguel Puga. Miguel was responsible for making Ronnie Anne Latina (She was originally a red head) and did add a bunch of interesting stuff to the show.
Now the thing is, Miguel clearly wanted his own show. He also wanted it centered around Identity Politics. He's the one who pitched the idea of the Spin-off series "The Casagrandes" where Ronnie Anne eventually went. When the Casagrandes airs it says "Created by Miguel Puga".
Now Casagrandes failed, largely because it was trying way to hard to be the "Mexican-American" Loud House. Note I didn't even say "Mexican" Loud House. I mean "Mexican-American" Loud House... as Chris Savino drew on his childhood to make Loud House... Miguel drew on his own, with a specific focus on the fact he's Mexican American. Which is why every episode of Casagrandes was basically "HEY BY THE WAY, DID YOU KNOW WE'RE ORIGINALLY FROM MEXICO? OH BUT NOT LIKE REAL MEXICAN ENOUGH TO MAKE ACTUAL MEXICANS INTERESTED IN WATCHING!"
Anyway, Casagrandes runs for 3 seasons, gets cancelled and gets a "movie" to tie off the series. Ronnie Anne shows up in like 3 episodes of Loud House after the cancellation of her show.
Here's where we get into the legal matters.
Chris Savino was fired from Nick because of his behavior.
Miguel Puga voluntarily left Nick after his show was over.
I'm thinking, since Miguel Puga has a creator credit on Ronnie Anne and basically every single character in Casagrandes, The Loud House has to be careful how they use these characters without having to pay money to them. This has been the case for a few Nicktoons, which is why Doug even got to change Networks from Nick to Disney because it's creator had so much ownership of the series.
Meanwhile the Loud House had an internal document leak about three years ago. This was when the show had been to pivot away from Lincoln and it's ratings were falling. One of the big things it said was to pivot BACK to Lincoln as the main character (Seasons 4,5,6 Lincoln is not the main character and there are entire episodes he doesn't even appear) as their research showed girls and boys both, preferred seeing the show from Lincoln's perspective.
From Season 7 we had a return to form with Lincoln focused more, and breaking the 4th wall and talking to the audience again (Something he had stopped doing when he was no longer the main character)
I think they REALLY wanted to bring Ronnie Anne back... to get the dynamic Lincoln had with her, which really led to some of the best episodes of the Loud House... but because of both the legal and story reasons of Ronnie being trapped in Great Lakes City, they couldn't..
So they invented ULTRA Ronnie... Aka Kara... a character who loves comic books as much as Lincoln, literally named after Supergirl, is ethnic, plays videogames and has a Tomboy side.
Anyway that's the theory DMF and I run with. She's been in about 4 episodes now and seems to be 'sticking' but it's still early in her creation.
How will this affect the game?
Obviously if she does become a Blatant Love Interest for Lincoln at some point I will want to add her. But if she just sticks around as an extra member of his core friend group like Stella, I'll be less worried about introducing her.
