Ren'Py - The Mind Society [v0.5] [Adventures in ENF]

The game is great in terms of renders/animations and has a decent premise.
The big problem it has are the characters, specifically, the main problem is the MC.
The MC is as pathetic as they come, no backbone, no proactivity, no charisma, no intelligence or physicality, nothing. He gets pushed around constantly and no one, that knows him enough, respects him in any way.

-His mother: Seems to hate him and cant stand him. Can’t blame her because MC is a lazy fuck. Just hanging around her house doing nothing.
-Sister: Somewhat likes him but still does not show him much respect, but that’s not her fault tbh, because he really doesn’t deserve much.
-Corinne: His “”friend”” who he has a crush on, doesn’t give a shit about him and it is a stretch to call her his friend. She goes around having sex with any other dude she comes across but not the MC of course, still MC drools over her and simps for her waiting for crumbs (and that’s been going on for over 3 years). So he acts so pathetically that it makes sense that she doesn’t even consider him for a quick fuck. She just keeps him around so he can smell her farts while she dates real men. The Mc KNOWS THIS but he has so little self steem that he just hangs to the hope that someday when she finishes fucking the whole town she’ll let him do her and share some of her stds she been collecting.
-Brigitte: I think a lot of people on the thread have already talked about the problems with this character so I wont say much, in short: she is a slave that rapes MC and treats him like her bitch lol
-Stacy: brainless golddigger dating a 70 yo dude, not really much substance to her, just there to get an easy quick fuck. Her mom is hot at least
-Jenny: Seems to be the only decent one imo

Overall, it seems that the devs wanted to make a zero to hero story but went way to hard on the zero in terms of the MC. They made some main girls so unlikable to the point that you don’t even want to hate fuck them you just want them to disappear or drop dead (Brigitte and Corinne). The fact that you CANT avoid any LI just makes this even worst (according to the dev, the choices will only limit a bit of their sex content). So you will be playing the MC drooling over Corinne while, if you have some self respect, youd want to tell her to fuck off and then play MC thinking how it was so good how he just got raped by Bigitte (lol). Cant really enjoy the game playing as this MC and with the forced fetishes and LI. Can only put up with so much for a couple of beautiful renders.

Great game with even greater story. I miss little bit more open sandbox, but still Its one of good mind controling games. Art is amazing, I kinda miss some girl with small breaths. But overall great game.

Nice graphics, somewhat decent story, have to agree that it's too short. Maybe free roam and side quests with extra tags added, feel that existing characters are enough to continue but maybe add more "fetishes"

The mind society [ v0.4.4b ]

Good game. A mind controlling surprisingly with a good story. Most of the mind controlling game offers only sex part with no story. But this one got a nice story. And there is sound effects to make it more immersive. I liked past stories too it makes game more interesting. And non canon dreams are nice too. Sandbox is not grindy but there is no hint system but you can easily navigate and progress story. No need to skip the time or anything. Renders are good too. But I'm not a big fan of these body proportions but I don't mind it in this one. Cause I loved the story. Dev is surely talented the non lewd animations are done nicely.

As in the current version there aren't much content to play, but still it has great potential to be, in my opinion, one of the top lewd games.
The concept of mind control is nothing new in the catalog of lewd game themes, but the way The Mind Society applies it to the story is really impressive. The sudden realization of your power, the revelation of shady society and the intricate plot and conspiracies within the story is told with a consistent progression that manages to keep you engaged the whole time. The addition of ancient memories not only adds layers to the lore but serves as the inseparable part of the game mechanic.
The renders are basic in comparison with other amazing lewd games but still manageable. The animation in most lewd games are very amazing. The character arcs are portrayed very convincingly, and the progression in controlling every girls you encounter is very engaging.
There're some typos that need to be corrected, hope future updates will solve this problem.
Overall, The Mind Society is a very amazing lewd game that manages to present the theme of mind control in a very interesting way. Highly recommend it.

Edit: I replayed this from the beginning because it'd been a while since the last update and the broken English initially didn't bother me as much because the game was interesting. However, now that the novelty as worn off all of it just sticks out like a sore thumb. It's a shame, it really is a great game. I just wish they took more care in proofreading.

Gameplay mechanic is really interesting. Well thought-out: has a sense of progression, easy to figure out, simple yet engaging. The memory stones add to the lore but aren’t just a plot device and actually serve a function that adds to the powers. There's a coherent story that isn't just copy-and-paste tropes but it doesn't feel like it's dragging you along and allows you to use your powers as well in what I think is a balanced way to do VN and sandbox.

The model renders look great, although a little more variation in body types would be nice. The environment renders also look good. There are also little things like the "loading" transition that give it its own unique touch which I can appreciate.

There are typos and weird phrasing/incorrect words here and there but it's not that bad at the beginning. It gets a little worse towards the end of the update but overall, it's not so bad that it's distracting. However, it wouldn't be a bad idea to proofread things with more scrutiny moving forward.

It's not a unique premise but the way it's handled is pretty solid and has a different spin on it. Feels like I'm watching a tv show rather than playing something (which could tell you that it's actually an interesting story). It's still early in development but I look forward to future updates.

You will note that the dev is very talented with the visual display and story telling - this is indeed a high quality game! In fact, it contains possibly the smoothest, most realistic renders I have seen so far in a (Renpy) game.
For instance, there is a great technique where a video is inserted as a background giving the illusion of a car moving through scenery. Very creative!
Also, I enjoyed the embedded stories to ancient times. Gives everybody who has played Assassin's Creed a smile on their face.

Unfortunately, the story ends abruptly and feels too short. Two other minor downsides are for one, the mental power system is never explained regarding their number values and the D and C types. And also, while the story telling is great, some texts are unnecessarily long with little benefit to the story.

But overall a great game, I really hope it gets a lot more content and a nice finish eventually.

The characters are breathtaking. The renders are amazing the detail in the skin texture is almost the best I've seen. The only problem i have is the time period between the updates but hey quality work takes time. Please be patient with the developers.
Bonus: The mc's mother and the tomboy sister is perfection. Please WE NEED MORE TOMBOYS and milfs with wrinkles not barbie looking dolls

Based on the (as yet) unfinished v0.4.4

My usual disclaimers when writing reviews on here are that A. I am here for the "plot" not the plot and B. I am very picky with visual novels and think broadly they can be very subpar. So, take both of those into consideration for my review when thinking about this game.

Pros

• Extremely good-looking renders – Once again I need to preface this with the statement that I personally do not put a great deal of weight on very high-quality renders and tend to look for kinky stuff and good writing over that. However, the graphical quality of The Mind Society is genuinely up there with some of the best on the site. The girls are all absolutely, fucking SMOKING hot with the exact kind of bodies I like, plus there are some pretty nice animations on top of the great images. So, if you like looking at sexy things, then this game has you easily covered (however, see “Cons” for a caveat here).
• Mind-control, dominance and kinkiness – Story-wise we’re still in early days of the game, but I’m super hopeful that the game is going to go down a few very exciting directions. Unlike SOME GAMES I could mention which promise mind-control and then half the time don’t actually allow you to mind control yourself a harem of slaves, it seems like this is entirely plausible in TMS. Given a couple of “flashback” scenes the game includes as well, I suspect that it will only to continue to lean more heavily into elements of domination/BDSM/force and other similar themes, all of which is just fucking excellent. There is also already a fairly decent amount of sexy content to keep my monke brain happy.
• Allusion to variety of choice – Like I said, it’s early days, so a lot of things haven’t really come to fruition here, but it seems like there MAY be a few branching paths that may come into play in the game, where you can choose to totally break people’s minds and turn them into slaves, gradually and slowly coerce and corrupt them, or even apparently choose the “good guy” route and not use the powers (although if that achieves anything that would be a shock). These are all themes which are hinted at in dialogue and it would be cool if any of these actually became viable options, but we’ll see if that works out.
• Dev is seemingly planning to have fun with the theme – My recent experience with mind-control games is that they fall into the trap of taking themselves too seriously and spending too much time pondering the morality of taking-over people’s minds. TMS seems to not really care about that. In fact, at one point early on when asked to explain why the mind powers exist one character basically says “we don’t know and don’t really care to know”. And frankly, I like that. Just telling us “the powers exist because the dev says so” is, in my experience, many times better than attempting to come up with some pseudo-science bullshit jargon which often just makes my eyes roll into the back of my head. Basically, it feels like Adventures in ENF are planning to make this game fun!

Mehs

• No cumshots – I’ve made this complaint in at least one other game as well and I’m aware it sounds super petty and ridiculous, but I promise this is actually a moderately big deal. Every sex scene has a few hot renders and animations and then at some point will have a render of the girl having an O-face and then: cut to black and fade to the next scene. This actually means that more than once it wasn’t clear that the sex had “finished” until the next scene had actually started, so I would have to rollback to… Uh… Re-watch it… Cumshots or even just cheesy dialogue like “oh god I’m cumming” might seem gratuitous, but they are actually vital for providing a “climax” (literally) to sex scenes, and without them a LOT of the sexy stuff feels very anti-climatic and a little unsatisfying. This is to say nothing of the fact that cumshots are quite simply hot to guys, and so not even having a render showing off the girls getting creampied is a huge missed trick.
• Very obvious hand-holding and signposting – At present the game is largely linear novel with a few small free roam sections. At present though these free roam sections might as well simply not exist as there isn’t really much choice within them. “Do you want to have these short, optional scenes which are probably ABSOLUTELY VITAL for growing the character and relationship with others…? Or not?” This is easily solved down the line if the free-roam sections get longer and provide more options, which miiiiight happen given that the most recent update included a map screen. But who knows if that will come to fruition?
• Writing is solid – I put this as a “meh” only because nothing has really blown me away yet. It’s written well in the sense that the spelling, grammar and English is good. Some of the characters are a bit over-the-top but that might fit the more light-hearted style of the writing. In short, the writing thus far has fit the premise, is enjoyable and doesn’t detract from the experience. BUT if you’re one of those people who genuinely are here for the “story” then you’ll find TMS light on the ground for it.
• Somewhat limited in terms of choices – There are a few dialogue choices so far which seem to have only a very limited, short-term effect, and then also one or two much more major choices, but beyond that you really don’t have a lot of say in what happens thus far. In fact, a lot of the mind-control elements are simply a part of the natural story progression, which seems a bit of a shame that you don’t even get to choose whether or not to use them. Similarly, no choices in terms of cumming inside girls or not yet, which is always a personal preference for me.
• Papyrus as a font – I too was once 14 and thought this was cool…

Cons

• Weird faces – I said earlier on that the game provides a lot of nice things to look at and this is broadly true, and I stand by it, with one glaring exception. A lot of the women have very odd-looking faces. It’s something I’m struggling to put my finger on why exactly, like they are too angular, too bony, too fake. This is most noticeable with Sharon the “step-mum” figure who genuinely looks like a witch, but then also the teachers and the “step-sister” Alex also suffer a bit from this. On top of this, whenever the characters blush it’s like someone dumped their cheeks in red paint and it just looks very, very silly.
• Apparently slow development – I only just discovered this game in version 0.4.4 and so haven’t tracked it for a while, but if the comments on F95 are to be believed then you need to be in for the long haul with TMS. The current version is literally on day 3 of the story and apparently there are upwards of 3 or 4 months between versions (I have seen it described as a side project apparently) so we’re probably looking at a completion date for the game of mid-2030.

In some of my reviews I leave myself a lot to say by the end of my Pros/Mehs/Cons, but honestly at this point I actually have covered pretty much everything I want to say about The Mind Society.

Really, I genuinely think this game has the potential of being an absolute banger and so I’ve rated it quite highly in accordance with that. I get the impression that Adventures in ENF (incidentally, that is an absolute mouthful of a name for the dev…) are going to make something which really appeals to me here. It seems like the game is going to lean very heavily into the total mind-control aspects, which is honestly very exciting to me. Like I’ve said, I could name at least one game that promised “mind control” as a main theme and then just sort of ignored it half the time. The fact alone that it promises to be complete fetish fuel for me is more than enough for me to rate it pretty highly.

If you are hoping for an exceptional read with characters who make you laugh, cry, love, then, yeah, you'll be disappointed. If however you're in the same boat as me then this is a great game to try out. If the dev just starts adding cumshots as well then it'll really push the fap value of the game up a lot too...

Despite the fact that brainwashing is obviously a pretty insane thing to actually do to a person, the game also isn’t really lingering on the morality of it. Which again, is frankly great. If I wanted to be lectured on the morality of kinks like this, I wouldn’t play a porn game including it, so once again it feels like a good start that the writing is largely light-hearted and has a clearly relaxed and porn-y tone. Even with the porn-y tone though, the writer is also obviously competent enough that it doesn’t ever detract or distract from the experience either.

Really, I’d say my single biggest issue with the game currently is that there’s just not enough of it, in terms of reviewing it properly and in terms of "enjoying it" thoroughly, and it probably is going to be a long time before there’s much more to it. At present there’s about an hour’s worth of content, maybe 1.5 if you go back through to do the branching stuff, and that’s just not a huge amount for something that is demonstrating this much promise.

I do sincerely hope that the game continues down the path it is suggesting it will right now and begins to open up with larger free-roam sections, more repeatable events and a good deal more rough and forceful mind-breaking sexy-times. It’s just a bloody pain that I now have to make myself tuck this away for another 2 years or so before it’ll have enough new stuff to be worth revisiting.

I really love the beginning of this game and hope that there will be lots of updates. The mind spell system is easy to use and enjoyable and the MC is not so dumb.. What a change compared to lot a mind games. Thank you Dev.

Mind control games have always been my favorite. I just like how game goes as MC growing strong to control more girls around him. But personal opinion is that girls do not all need big boobs and asses, sometimes different girls need to be attractive only by different faces, but also different bodies. Some can be thinner, some can be taller, and some can have small or medium parts.

This game play the trope of ol' "boy got a mind control ability", but instead of presenting the protagonist as a one dimensional bag of dicks, the devs gave players choices. To be that bag of dicks, to be a moralist, or to be a bag of dicks with the heart of gold.

Now let's talk about the fetish presented : Milf ? Check, that's the basic necessity. Muscular heroine ? That's rare around these part, kudos to the devs. Interracial ? Much appreciated, I'll toast to that. Humongous tiddies ? I do understand where it comes from. The rest ? Well, those were to be determined. I do personally hoping for trans heroines.

My only gripe is that I can't rate this game twice.

Great start so far with beautiful renders and surprisingly good animations. Story is obviously still in early stages but shows promise. I know dream sequences can be a bit of a cliche in these games. But this game does a good job of making them relevant to the story. This is one to watch for sure.

I'm absolutely blown away by this game, it's not just the renders are super hot but also there's an interesting history backing that up, it's funny, witty and definitely leave you want for more.
My respect to the dev team it's has been a long time that I've been actually engaged in the story behind the game and I'm eager waiting for the future upgrades.

It's a very good game visually and the story is very adequate. I enjoy that the story gave you options and it had a rewind button for you to go back to the other options. I can't wait til the rest of the story comes out, definitely something I would replay in the future.

Great game with beautful women and images. The story was actually interesting as well (sometimes I find myself clicking through to the action). The only reason this isn't a 5 star is because there is such little content. It will be a great game when completed, I have no doubt.

Fantastic renders with animations and a slightly derivative but with a nice twist backdrop and story are the order of the day here and if you like what you see in the screenshots and don't mind a little contrivance as to how you get your harem (mind control in this case), you are gonna love this one. The writing is smart and intriguing and does not overstay its welcome with characters pontificating about who knows what. Even at this early stage, there is a very nice chunk of sexy times with various women (including some from history!), so your time will be well-spent even though the game is still early.

Positives
+ High quality renders with animations that look decently natural. I'm not really a stickler for the latter, but I know some people really appreciate the extra touch that goes into that.
+ Interesting story with a cool hook (think the Assassin's Creed series)
+ Plenty of sexual scenes

Negatives
- On the short side (only an issue because what's here is so good that you want more)

I guess it should also be noted that the character body design appeals to a very specific type (the two most petite girls here would be noticeably curvy in real life). If you aren't into girls who tend more towards the T H I C C side of things, you might not really find them appealing.

Overall, aside from its current brevity, this looks like it's going to be a homerun if the devs can keep up this level of quality and maintain a consistent (and hopefully fairly frequent) update schedule. This is a fantastic endeavor on pretty much all fronts and is highly recommended.

Graphically it is very outdated. It is a game that has been developed for 2 years and yet it has almost no content, not only in history but in erotic and sexual situations, almost nothing, updates come out every thousand years and they are short, the truth is, I do not see a future for it. There are people who give it 5 stars. I really don't understand what they see in a game from 2 years ago and with no content.

This game has the makings of something really special. Was on hiatus for quite a while too so I'm ecstatic to see it getting updates again. The story is good. The renders are great. The animation is great. My biggest complaint by far is that there issnt more of it. That being said it does already have some good meat on it's bones. Can't wait for more.

- After finally making one exciting choice (about Corinne), the game ends and you don't have the chance to see the result of that choice, making this super frustrating and completely killing the anticipation.
