im stuck in an infinite loop of fighting slimb creatures... every two steps seems another battle, all buildings are locked. how do you get back to the game ?

Go to the village entrance (east side of the map) and defeat the boss slime there. Once the main character is level 4 just run away from all random battles, don't worry about leveling up Izzy (or Jade, if she joined you).
