Chapter 4 - Progress update #15
No Friday post this week, but a late Saturday post instead.
In short, I'm done.
The final renders are running, and once they're finished and compressed, Chapter 4 will go to the duck for proofreading and to the Burger Man for playtesting.
To answer any questions you may have, here's a quick rundown:
Will there be a release this year?
- No.
- Probably earlier. I myself expect it to be in about 3 weeks. However, until I have the complete proofreading back, I will stick to the release date I announced for the end of January. As soon as I can say for sure that it will be different, I will let you know.
Once that's done, I expect to receive the first feedback from proofreading. I will then implement this bit by bit.
At the same time, I will write the dialogues for Chapter 5, as the script is already finished. During the two weeks of the Patreon release, I will build all the characters and sets and then run test renders.
And THEN, as always, I will take my well-deserved 2-3 week break during which I will do nothing.
I really liked the approach taken in this chapter, namely getting the animations out of the way right at the beginning. This gave me a lot of predictability for the release, as the work that follows can be easily extrapolated into the future.
This could mean that, with all the accounting and tax issues, the preparations for Chapter 5, starting the work on the chapter with the animations and my break, the first regular posts won't start again until February.
I will announce the exact timing after the public release of Chapter 4.
I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year in advance. I am very satisfied with this year and, above all, with the visible progress I have been able to achieve in that timeframe. Everything from 12 months ago looks much better today. I can’t ask for more than that.
