Release date of The Motel and reason for the delay
Hello everyone,
Here are the reasons why the update for The Motel has taken so long and why it shouldn’t be much longer.
These last months have been quite complicated, with problems to fix and especially decisions to make.
There are many reasons, but I’ll only tell you the main ones.
My technical English isn’t great, but I’ll do my best.
First issue: changing the graphics card did a lot of damage to my PC.
Without informing users, Nvidia hard-coded things to try to solve their own problem, which ended up making part of my softwares unusable.
No rollback possible on an ASUS PRIME Z790, no reset!
It took a long time to find the source of the problem, but in the end it was solved with a new purchase.
During that time, I decided to spend as much time as possible on Blender, which works without IRAY.
Why? Because Daz depends on Nvidia (Iray), and since the start of the year Nvidia has been showing they don’t care about gamers or software that isn’t theirs.
Today, Daz has to work with two programs to satisfy its users.
Their focus has shifted to cloud, AI and data centres, gaming has become a thorn in their side.
And when you’re worth 5 trillion on the stock market—yes, yes, not 500 but 5,000 billion—you sell a quality product… or not. Anyway...
This is the main cause of the delay for the update of The Motel.
I restarted the NTR route twice, not completely, but several times.
I knew writing NTR needed skill, but it takes more than that.
While playing, I realised—consciously or not—I was falling back into the same style, and drifting out of NTR, directly, without subtlety, and it started to look too much like the other routes.
You can’t just wake up in the morning, pick up a pen, and rewrite six days of gameplay before going to bed.
My apologies, maybe I should have said it earlier, I don’t know...
Another point: it’s complicated as well, because I don’t know the exact words to explain it properly.
With close friends, at weekends, we make small games you’ve never seen.
I gave the rights to a friend who plans to share them.
There will be two demos, and your feedback will be important.
If you want a release date for The Motel, it’s early next week.
I don’t promise a huge update, but at least a good beginning for the NTR route.
I’m still with my pen, writing the end right now.
Sorry again,
DD
