I don't know why the site counts it as a remake, it clearly takes place after the events of the original game. It's not the same story told from scratch.

It's a separate game. I just saw on Patreon that he's only going to focus on the original game from now on, until it's finished.I don't understand, is the special edition a separate game...? The original game 7 gigs, and the special edition is only 400 megabytes... Or did the developer compress the game like that...? WTF
I am happy whatever comes out in this story. The special edition show some promising new caracters.
In my opinion the original story has come to an end, was a great game but has become to big to navigate.
So if the dev decides to continue with the SE, I am fine with that.

Cool, Mrs Wild and her hot friend Mrs Warm are in it now, so far one good scene with her in the jacuzzi but didn’t see Mrs warm getting any action yet. They did talk about sleeping with each others sons though, just hasn’t happened yet. Naughty Nina gets the most scenes this update, and she says “anal isn’t cheating”

Update seems like a downgrade, the sex scenes are way less graphic which might explain why the update is so small in size. You have to imagine sex is taking place because the angles no longer show penetration, at least in the parts I played. I may go back and try different paths but it's a bit of a let down from a dev that usually delivers.

After a second vote, the subscribers requested that this game not be finished now—even if it means the ending feels a bit incomplete—and that a sequel be created instead.
This will be done after the original The Motel is completed.
The door is open to any reasonable suggestions from subscribers, but I will not take into account any requests or comments written here.
The Motel is currently being developed until its completion.

Well at a guess I'd say they switched from png to webp or avif, which have about the best quality to size ratio available today, they reduced the resolution which depending on what they were going from and to could produce significant savings, and they turned down the quality settings a bit. For example I just went and grabbed 4k scenic shot which was 3.9mb as a png, converted it to a 1080p webp at 60% quality and it came down to only 243.3kb; that's a 94% reduction with no fine tuning of any kind.
