Don't remember if it's clearly said (going through the game to read that conversation again) but I remember taking that conversation as MC wouldn't be able to marry multiples wifes of the same family. You also have Aerion case that emphasis this idea with her family sending someone to take her place.

And yes I vaguely remember that but I assumed that 22 is the 'official' age of majority and is celebrated separately and 18 is the 'normal' one just like in some countries the legal age of majority is different from the age of drinking like the US. My point is, I assumed she dated a while between the age of 18 and 22 maybe even before that, that's what I meant by a long period of time. I could be wrong of course.

And look, trust me, I want to put this whole matter to rest as well. That one dialog change doesn't really address the crux of the matter I've been mentioning though. To copy paste from a previous post:
