I would genuinely hate if he decided to go with that for his next VN.
Always prefer VNs that leave sequels as "as player desired" in a way.
Either as "events happened and this MC ended up happy with their loved one" (name not mentioned), or game asking who previous LI is, then having line of dialogue here or there mentioning that name if relevant for story (certain Viking game).
Some even go bit further, such as Unbroken only referencing Author at very start (even allowing player to select LI that MC from previous game ended up with).
It's few additional renders at very start of a game, but allowing player to live fantasy that they decided how story ended.
If no choices, it goes to dev default.
Should Neverwhere 2 really have MC + Kaija kids, it would really disappoint me, but that's a story for when and if it happens.

I'm not saying same MC, I'm saying I'd be disappointed if MC of next game turned out to be a child of MC from this one and Kaija.
If it's just Kaija's son/daughter, sure, no problems. If it's this MC and Kaija, then yeah, I wouldn't like it.
But again, a bridge to cross once we get to it, it's few years away, who knows what will happen by then
