Dev Update - 2025/10/03

Hey everyone,

I'm still working on Elea's scene, but I made pretty good progress on it this week.
As I said last week, it's pretty big... well, it's the biggest scene of the Chapter now.
It's already almost 240 renders for this scene alone, and there are still quite a lot of renders to do.
Looking at the work that's left to do for this scene, I hope to get close to the end of it by the end of next week.
The script will be done by then for sure, because that will be the focus for the next few evenings.
If I can manage to set up all renders (at least another 100, probably more)... We'll see.

The good thing is, once I'm done with this scene, I can move on to the medium-sized scene that's left before the chapter endings.
Especially one of the two "endings" is something I've been looking for to do for more than 3 years now.
I can't wait to start working on it, and hopefully the assets I have in mind will play along and turn out to be a good fit.
More on that once we're there.

The numbers of this week:
134 new static renders for a total of 1321
0 new animations
473 new lines in the script file for a total of 4746

Hey everyone,


As promised, the October Dev Log is on time.
Of course, there's a little less to write about when the last Dev Log was only 2 weeks ago, but I'll still try my best to waste your time with nonsense. :-D

Jokes aside, I'm currently working on one of the biggest scenes of this Chapter.
This scene has kept me busy for the majority of the past 2 weeks and will continue to do so for the next week.
It's already at ~260 renders, and I'll probably need another 100 at least to get it done, but it's a very important scene for Elea's character arc, so I'll do my best to get it right.


When I'm done with Elea's scene, there's "only" one medium-sized scene left to do before I can start the work on the Chapter endings.
Yes, plural, as this Chapter will have two different endings. Those two paths will merge again later in Chapter 8.
One of those paths is something I've been looking forward to working on since I started this project.
I can't wait to finally get to it.
More on that with the next Dev Log when I hopefully start working on the endings.

As of today, Chapter 7 contains 1321 renders, 9 animations, and the length of the script file is somewhere between Chapter 3 and 4.

Hey everyone,

Oof, what a week. It was very busy with work of all kinds, even by my standards.
The day job is pretty exhausting at the moment due to a big project coming to an end, and I try not to let that influence the game development too much.

I have bad and good news.

As you might remember from last week (I didn't, I had to look it up), I've been working on a very long scene and said that I had roughly 100 or a bit more static renders to do for that scene.
Yeah... turned out that estimate was too low... who would've thought.
But again, even by my standards... boy, was I off.

So the bad news is that it was over 200 renders needed for the scene.
As of now, 202 to be precise.
I know that my estimations are on the low end most of the time because I always find new "ideas" for squeezing in additional renders.

But I think it was the first time I was THAT off.

Bummer, so what's the good news?
The good news is that both pc's are rendering the final images of that batch, which means I somehow managed to set up over 200 renders this week.

That's also a first.

My plan for this week was to get as close to the end of the scene as possible.
Except for the renders still in the queue and implementing all renders into the game build, I'm done.
At the start of this week, it seemed way too optimistic to hope to get that far.
So... Yay, I guess?

I plan to create the next internal test build this weekend when all renders are done and then run a few tests on that.
After that, I'll move on to the next scene, which will be the last one before the Chapter Finale.

The numbers for this week:

597 new lines in the script file for a total of 5343
