It wasn't unfortunately, I saw the comment almost immediately and checked our version and it had the same code so I reached out to staff here and deleted it. I've reworked our code too to see if we can get better at detecting it. Ahhhh
If you're on MAC/Linux btw it doesn't affect you, it solely targets windows so if you downloaded the torrent it'd definitely be in your best interests to do all the usual scans etc and make sure you're safe.

I just woke up an read all this then started worrying because Im used to not thinking about Anti Virus on Linux
I actually still have both the Game Folder and the Torrent File in my Downloads folder
Would be a huge relief if I'm not affected

It won't show up until you try and run it. I believe if you dl before the new files went up, you will get infected when you run it. (unless your virus protection stops it of course).

You will be fine; you needed to have to run it on the 1st or after. So, just re-download and good to go.

Positive - there's code that disregards OS's other than windows. Based linux gigachads just can't stop winning.

Lucky me then, 3rd time in the last few months Ive had a virus scare but been fortunate enough that I'm unaffected
Definitely had those 2 files on the system (token ones). Ran game yesterday (before 01/08).
Full scans done with Malwarebytes, RogueKiller and Defender, nothing found.
Deleted game and saves, going to observe for now. Not sure what the bloody thing even does, but not noticing any strange behaviour.
Lesson learned, wait a day before downloading stuff.

Compressed was infected too, but if you played it before your date switched to 1st Aug, you should be fine.

It is as they said to activate on/after the 1st.
I still re-did new links now as I noted.
what are the steps we should take? I ran windows defender and malwarebytes and I got not hits. I deleted the game and the zip file for the game and I got rid of the stuff in the token folder (yes I did find the two weird files in my token folder that everyone is talking about.) Is there anything else I should do? I'm kinda new to all this. I also don't understand the whole pc date thing, will the malware have only infected me if I downloaded the file after august 1st? or does it automatically run once my pc hits august 1st?

My understanding is that it runs if you start the infected game after August 1st and that they have since cleaned / removed the infected links.
This is one of those "consult your doctor if any weird spots start showing up" situations I guess.
Is this MC modeled after Rami Malek? Looks like his scuffed younger brother.
