There's no discrepancy there. You can let people know something exists, that you're involved with it and that they could become a target as a result without indoctrinating or brainwashing them. MC could have had some self defense training and could have had an honest relationship with his parents and Kajia. He could have decided for himself if he could live with her job. Kajia wasn't there as a bodyguard but if MC needed one the templars could have just talked to him about it. Instead MC's parents, Kajia and the Templars made the worst possible decision at every opportunity.Its kinda funny how the templars are apparently a evil cult which indoctrinates their own kids and yet at the same time the MC's parents are HATED here for not involving their kids in their work/"cult" sooner and keeping them as far away from it as possible.

For narrative purposes, it also could makes sense for all the main LIs to be tied to the main plot in some way. Going on what was recently discussed, it could be Kaiji directly to Templars, Medb directly to elves, Fiona to her family (if they are a third party), and Elea indirectly to Templars through her mom.
I concur. One of the reasons I like Elea, she seems to be in the dark as much as the MC was.

I'm sure they all tie in somehow. The people we still don't know about are Elea, Kate and the subway girl - whose name I don't remember. Her part is pretty small so far, especially if you don't drink with her at the bar. I also expect that Nightengale is more important than she appears to be.
