Worst part for me is simply how little MC Reacts, i would have allowed no opening for her to go there to begin with, as her life is more important than her feelings, but even as it is what a soy boy response.
True. But I really didn't like her trying to flip the blame and I especially disapproved of MC's lap dog response. In fact, I hated it so much that I made my own little mod for the conversation in the bar and had MC chew her ass about her behavior. Heh, I'm doing much better now... View attachment 4897403
brother you need to post that mod, i want it so bad, i was fumming during that chat, MC: "you nearly killed yourself going behind my back?, no problem "giggles"....." WTF
OHH and btw guys, anyone noticed: So we had both mom and Kaija patrolling the area and somehow they allowed a knight to pass by them and kill the elf chick? (imagine allowing anything to trigger the war again with your son in enemy's hands....), makes no sense, and that would be immediately obvious to MC as soon as he knew they were there, giving even more reasons why he not confronting people looking for answers is idiotic.

I don't really agree as for me it's hard to say given the time difference. We only know they been there for roughly a week could of been after Fin died or a little before considering the time difference works in the Elven realm. That and we don't know the roads either , could be she died an hour or 2 up the road where they weren't anywhere near. Also I don't see why they would stop a patrol either even if they are respected members it would come across as odd behavior if you ask me , unless they knew the mission the patrol had.
I am struggling to articulate my feelings on this update. To call it a profound disappointment would be an understatement. As far as I'm concerned, this chapter was a complete waste of potential, a poorly structured aside that fritters away the stakes of the last update while simultaneously knifing my interest in most of the characters unfortunate enough to make an appearance. The music is good and the still images are good (though a lot of the animations and automatic montages weren't), but what does it matter if I'm weary of the characters on my screen?
Now it's certainly possible I'd be more forgiving of the update if the MC's attitude didn't grind my gears so thoroughly, but unfortunately, it does. The MC oscillates between being an edgy, judgmental asshole who talks a big game about bringing justice to Finnabair's killer (assuming that wasn't him), and a disinterested salaryman who doesn't lift a finger to advance the plot for literal weeks! No matter the situation, my avatar finds a way to make it worse. It's beyond frustrating.
It was for me anyway; maybe this chapter will work for other people, in which case good for them. If you don't want to read my ranting, by all means skip it; I wouldn't blame you. But I can only call it as I see it and I need to get this off my chest, so here's what I saw.
Okay, I think that covers it. To sum up, I don't think this was a "bad" update in an objective sense, but it failed at nearly everything I needed it to do. It ignored the main plot so thoroughly that it cracked my suspension of disbelief, and focused heavily on sexy times with the LIs that mostly fell flat. I like a lot of the characters less now than I did before, and I have very little faith a lot of my fundamental questions will ever get satisfactory answers. I'm still interested in Fiona's backstory and I do think the main plot has the potential to be fantastic, but I'm not sure I can stomach the way it's being told.
tl;dr I'm not an overly superstitious person, but this is now the third time in a row that an AVN update titled "Crossroads" has crippled my interest in its game. Perhaps I need to take the hint.

I don't agree with all the little details, but I do agree with the general theme that this was a filler side chapter that squandered it's time and wasn't needed. Quite a few VNs this release cycle have been like this and felt flat.
The ultimate flaw in how this is structured is that you have 4 Lis but only 2 are directly tied to the plot. I'm sure this will change but it needs to happen yesterday so that this type of chapter is never needed again, because it shouldn't be.
"Getting in it's own way" is the main theme of what you wrote and I agree that's the biggest issue. There is good stuff but it feels like it sabatoges itself and finds really bad ways to get back on track. Like the whole Jess thing which could have had the same outcome if that's what the plot needed without it being ridiculous.

Yeah I don't fully agree either with some things but I do agree with some things I was disappointed in. Like the Nightingale fight was a big disappointment for me even tho I like her character. Also Jessica really pissed me off in this episode she went from a fun character to one I hate now.
Tho overall for me this was the best chapter / update yet for the game but im not looking at from a story telling point of view but rather an enjoyment point of view. Bur from a story telling yeah it was lack luster but that's okay filler episodes are fine and fun every once in awhile and that is where this update did a great job. Mostly the Kaija and Fiona paths. I still need to finish my Elea save and few other ones I have.

See but wouldn't it be great if we had what we had with the love interests and could still tell the story. I'm just hoping that in a few chapters we don't have it where an Archfiend has taken over a city in Neverwhere, but instead of dealing with it we decide to do a summer beach fun episode because we need time with the girls.
It has also been a disappointing update for me. For reasons already told by many others.
I guess dev thought it made sense to have a "relaxing" update after the whirlwind of 0.5, but... it didn't work or even made sense, IMO. Only part who did it for me was Fiona's.
Excited and worried at the same time about that trip to Ireland
Little sis' outright stupidity only worsened my impression about the update.
That said, I'm fairly sure things will improve a lot on next update

I agree and TBH, I'll be surprised if this gets finished. It took what? 10 months to do and didn't move the plot at all. And he took us from a cliffhanger (for those who didn't kill fin) and left it completely unresolved - not even a baby step in that direction to another cliffhanger. And this story is still branching but, according to CEO, there is only going to be one ending. So somehow the people with Fiona, and the people with Elia, and the people who stayed with Kajia and killed Finn, and the people who burned bridges, hate Kajia and loved Finn - are all going to get pulled back to the exact same spot by the end. Personally, every chapter has left me less likely to want anything to do with the Templars than the one before it. Given how long this update took, and how much work would have to happen to get everyone to the same ending (somehow) I will be shocked if this is ever finished.

Personally I dropped my Fionna path awhile ago, but reading that she somehow has magical powers over your dick makes me less likely to try that path again.

For me that is what makes her more of an interesting character because as far as I know Succubus's are generally evil / bad characters. But it seems she has broken that mold and is fighting against being what she used to be to become a better person. Now im not saying she is a Succubus but she seems like she is something that is very similar to one

For me she was already too “interesting” I’ve already got Templars and elves going on. I don’t feel the need to get involved with the family drama of Irish gods. ( Trying to think of this from the perspective of someone who worked as a professional punching bag - customer relations-) for an insurance company a few weeks ago.
I really don't understand people here, hating Kaija for lying and being deceptive (understandable somewhat), even though she saved the MC’s life, while loving Finn and completely brushing off the fact that he tried to kill him multiple times.
Also hate for the Templars but love for the Elves, even though we don’t even know how the conflict started or who’s actually at fault.
Finn was completely honest from the start. She didn't lie, deceive or pretend.
We knew she hates our guts from the start.
Why did she hate them? Because her interactions with humans have been from talking to Templars.
Meanwhile Kaija deceived, lied and (non-love path) pretended to love person she was in relationship with so she can do her job, FOR YEARS.
I've gone to kind of "OK, let's move on" phase with Kaija and did her love route, and it's great.
Don't know if he ever officially said anything, but she definitely seems to me like Ceolags favorite and that shows.
Without a doubt best characterized character in the game, like her or not.
But at the same time, it's very, very easy to hate her.
Additionally, some of us played game before Ceolag re-did bits of Act 1. Previously slap on ass gave 0 points, making it fairly easy to end on non-love path initially and get "I like you, but only as a friend".
Imagine that being your first playthrough: Your girlfriend from the start of the game doesn't love you, you're a job for her.
She doesn't come to your rescue of her own will, but she gets sent by council to rescue you.
Likewise for Templars, both of your parents know your girlfriend is a lie, and do nothing.
Finn relationship starts at lowest possible point. It ends up with true emotions, honesty and understanding.
Kaija relationship starts with lies. And it starts with lies even on love path.
It has also been a disappointing update for me. For reasons already told by many others.

Kinda surprising to me tbh. Since you get to fuck 3 out of 4 LI's this update, I assumed there would be more positive feedback. Let's be real, the overwhelming amount of AVN players cares about sex scenes far more than story in any of these games.
Since my combined point score for all LI's is -2 I expected to dislike this update. I admit I did not have "complete obliteration of Jessica's character" on my bingo card for this one and it made it much, much worse.
Who knows, maybe the disappointment came from not being able to fuck Ailil's sloppy seconds
In all fairness, elf bitch just lost her godawful daughter. Probably gonna take a bit until the MC can bone her.

Given Finn's age, Medb could theoretically go 280 years without having sex, you'd have to court her for another 20 years and you'd be able to have an affair.
