There is no 'interpretating', only geographical facts. Scandinavia comprises 3 countries, Finland is not one of them.

If you're going strictly geographically, Denmark isn't part of it either, just Norway, Sweden are northern part of finland

I'm not actually sure what the origin of the name is, the mountain range between Norway and Sweden is called The Scandes but I don't know what came first (I think the range ends as the Scottish Highlands, btw).

No, different language groups, different folklore and mythology, although somewhat influenced by the Norse mythology due to close proximity and communication throughout a few thousand years living around the Baltic sea.
Scandinavian languages are Indo-European, while Finnish, Estonian, Karelian, Sami, Ingrian and a bunch of others are Finno-Ugric. The Finnish, Estonians, Karelians and Ingrians are largely sharing their mythology, folklore and Pre-Christian religion:

Before the soviet occupation of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, between the 1st and 2nd World War Finland, together with Poland in a lesser extent was considered one of the five Baltic states. The occupation was the factor that settled down the term of Baltic States as only Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

As a side note to the Scandinavia discussion, in case anyone doesn't know, Danes, Norwegians and Swedes can usually understand each other, at least with a little practice if you haven't had much exposure. I'm Swedish and don't live too far from Copenhagen, and only speak Swedish there while they reply in Danish.
