You see I get that, I figured that out when I played my first one of these games a few years back. It always felt like a gimmicky niche that made time stop feel like it had more substance to it.

i was gona comment along those lines too . like .. i dont get the appeal at all....isint the fun of even this types of games along the lines od dialogues and a coherent story . like getting to know the characters too.... why are all of this npc stuff surfacing all of a sudden .. who wants this ??

this one actually does have expressions in its sex scenes as an option, making it a bit better than the majority of the... "genre" i guess you'd call it?
they're definitely a lot worse than any porn game with actual effort. imo, the only benefits they have over some things are two things:
1. it feels a bit easier to self-insert yourself into the situation when you have some level of control over it, versus a CG gallery
2. "gameplay that basically does not exist" is definitely better than gameplay which is so awful that it's a slog to get to the porn. i'm fine with porn games that have longer stretches between porn sections but have solid gameplay (The Last Sovereign, for instance, has a great story and solid gameplay, although imo the actual porn scenes are kinda meh just from the artstyle), but there's definitely many where the gameplay is actively the worst
EDIT: this is not the latest version! the latest version of the game has the expressions-during-sex-scene option for most (or maybe all) of the NPCs, with the most recent being the "Yarakashi Researcher" (no idea who the fuck that is) and the "Ogre in Prison" (DO know who that is, and this lacks the expression mode for that)

I played a couple of these games and never again, this trend needs to die. Its rewarding lazy ass devs honestly. I'm not even sure why so many exist. It is by far the laziest style of RPGM. Literally better jerking off to ehentai gallery then this shit lmao. Someone mentioned it earlier and its true, these pos games go for $10+ when you can get other amazing indie games for this price with more shit in it. Don't support this type of game thats for sure. (Not kink shaming btw, I'm just mad at how lazy these fucking types of game are.) I've rather get pegged in the ass then see another NPC game lmaoooooooooooooo YA YEET

Meanwhile take a look at western never-ending trend of producing forever-WIP VN games using RENPY/UNITY slapped with premade dolls, making patreon page and calling it a day. Update once a month (maybe) with changelog looking like you follow a tutorial and cover the most basic of mistakes you made previously.
At least east can make some unique hand-crafted art and sell finished product.

The problem I have with these games is that I feel they are wasting the concept. They aren't there to express their love of the fetish, they're there to sell an interactive art gallery because it's more profitable than just selling the art itself. You can keep the whole theme park full freedom feel without getting rid of the story. There are tons of games that have shown such. That excuse just feels lazy.
On a completely different note. I think most people, even those with this fetish, would eventually lose their mind feeling completely alone surrounded by "dolls".
