Not sure they can really be called spoilers since they seem to be more of just guidelines for them and they're not sticking hard and fast to them since Rogue had stolen Ms Marvel's powers before she ever joined the X-Men in the comics. Maybe Marvel retconned her origins in the modern garbage they try to pass off as comics, but since I don't keep up with the modern garbage I can't say for sure.

One of the tentative plans for a potential sequel is having Pete be Kurt's replacement as your assigned tutorial buddy.
I mean Rogue having her origins retconned is normal.
She originally was a woman in her 50s with greying hair. But since that was never explicitly stated they made her a teenager who dyed white stripes in her hair. Then they made it where that's just a biological quirk she had.
In the same comic where they retconned Mystique being Nightcrawler's DAD they retconned Mystique having Rogue since she was a toddler and that she always had white in her hair.
We did take this to have some fun with her pubic hair though lol
I know you're talking about the new thing that came out but Spidey+Kitty will always be the second best ship for the character.

I hate retcons. It's one of the problems modern comics have, always changing things. Like the old saying goes, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it.".

Retcons by their nature are meant to fix a problem with a story or a character. For example, without retcons we wouldn't have Steve Rogers as Captain America in the main Marvel universe, as in Timely Comics in the 40s, he left the military after the War and became a teacher.
The problem isn't retcons themselves, its the overuse of them.

I think you're right, but it's also how they use them to radically alter the character to be unrecognizable to what they were, to the point where they may as well make new characters.
They tried that but the people with the talent to do so are dead or went indie due to Marvel and DC abusing them.
What we got were characters like Snowflake and Safespace. So Marvel and DC just keep retconning or having characters go through the same arcs over and over again. Or they have a hero's supporting character take up the mantle like Jane Foster becoming Thor or the Falcon becoming Captain America. Or a random racially diverse kid taking over like Ironheart, Cho, and Kamala. Kamala actually worked though because she had her own powerset, was more street level, and didn't inherit Carol's villains, drama, or narrative beats.
