I... feel like there might be some kind of misunderstanding about... well, a lot of things. The point of the game isn't necessarily to bang every character and get a high score on the orgyboard. It's about dating your favorite X-men characters- and who those favorites are will vary for each player.

...the point of the game is to fuck everyone. And if it's not, it should be.

There's been some discussion on the discord about what to do but nothing is confirmed or set in stone yet. While they could use the multiverse as a way to hand wave Betsy and Kwannon, they probably won't as it doesn't really address a difficult issue for Psylocke.

One idea I floated was to have British Betsy as the girl in the game and then if and/or when there is a sequel have the body swap happen off screen. I suggested that if Null were to leave the mansion at the end of the game due to the story, it would allow the writers to reset the relationship between Betsy and Null, as she went through something traumatic and he wasn't there for her. And so, we have a storyline to rebuild that relationship.
What if they just didn't acknowledge it? I know it sounds like a cop-out but, when I first saw Psylocke/read a comic with her in it, I had no idea she was Asian even though I'm Asian myself. It's like "She uses martial arts!", yeah, like a dozen and one other marvel characters including Electra. "She LOOKS Asian." Yeah, not to an actual Asian. Her hair is purple. Her eye shape don't look different from, like Gambit or wolverine in some shots. To me, it looks like someone draw any other thin, athletic woman character (of which there are many in Marvel comics) and put long purple hair on her.
If nothing about her personality is Asian and she doesn't actually look Asian, then why not just say she's not Asian?

Cuz we need some slanted eyes for variety and we might not get jubilee.

I've never heard anyone say pre-ninja Betsy was a character they liked, and fans who got into the franchise through cartoons and movies don't even know it's a thing that exists. And I've certainly never heard anyone say they yearn for an accurate retelling of the fuckin' Siege Perilous. That whole "they live in Australia now" period of Claremont's run was the point where it became painfully obvious he'd been writing the book for too long and was hitting burnout.

Just have Kwannon not exist and make Betsy a British woman who is ethnically Asian and was born that way, that's what people want, there's literally no good reason to either avoid the only form of Psylocke that's mainstream or make the story as complicated and dumb as it was in the comics.

While I understand the intention by the developers on how they would like to present the relationships in the game, they will clash with how the vast majority of AVN games have progressed as well as how "many" players wish to play the game. Players come in expecting certain things with the way the game is presented and then feel like a rug pulled from under them if it's not the case. What you wish for your game can sometimes fall apart once put into the hands of players.

It's like the entire jealously/friendships system in the game. it just feels like another tedious grind mechanic on top of the already grindy mechanic of love/trust. While I understand it is there to make it so you don't romance as many other girls in the game as you can it ends up just being an annoyance to some players who want to play the game a certain way. (it's probably the first thing I will mod out of the game for myself)

Also the amount of grind already present in the game doesn't really make players excited about another playthrough to romance different girls, especially if it will take many playthroughs to do. And it will get worse with new content being added.

They wish to fight the harem tag and style of gameplay but I feel like it will just confuse and push some people away from the game instead.

Let the players who wish to romance all the girls do so and let the people who want to romance just a few do that as well.

edit: it's late here so i might not be making sense

I mean, it's not their fault that they're making a dating sim and yall keep insisting it should be a meet'n'fuck. It's like going to a taco bell and being mad that the pizza is crap.
It's all about how the game is presented to you. Currently the game has 3 love interests, they can all be romanced at the same time, if that changes later on with more girls being added then the initial presentation on what the game is about is wrong. If that is not what the game is about then the 3 girls at the beginning of the game should not be romanceable at the same time as that is what the player will base the rest of the game off of.

I don't think I've heard Magik be mentioned one way or the other.
There has not been EXPLICIT mention of Magik being added as of yet, no.
However, there's a strong chance she might show up in chapter 3 or 4 due to when she debuts as an actual X-men character in the comics (Uncanny X-men #160). This is ENTIRELY speculative on my part based on what the devs have said about their general story progression choices though (along with other hints), and could EASILY not turn out to be the case.
Just me making pot-shot semi-informed guesses.

Oh that's not what I was arguing at all. The polycule aint going nowhere, even if they've said some characters wont get along, and others will take more to convince.

While we have explicitly stated multiple time that all girls will be romanceable at once, the point is the intent. The intent isn't to pander to the audience and be a gallery of all the sexiest X-girls that you can have your way with wherever and whenever. We have a very specific vision for the game, a vision which includes what is hopefully a more realistic approach to relationship progression with the polycule. We care deeply about the characters and their comic origins, and want to portray them accurately, which especially means how they'd respond the the present romantic situation.

Emma frost is confirmed as the chapter 2 antagonist, and is highly implied to be a romance option in an even later chapter [citation needed].
I think they've mentioned that every woman who makes a fully drawn appearence like that, you will be able to bang. That's why Dr Reyes is just a silhouette (right now).
This is partly to be frugal with the art budget. One of the guys who've recently read the entire thread might be able to back me up on this.

It's not like they haven't ignored other continuity like Rogue draining Ms. Marvel. I doubt that's going to be happening at any point in this game considering that happened before she joined the X-Men originally.
That will probably still happen. Rogue and X-23 both join the x-men earlier in this game because the art for them had been made before they decided to follow the comic continuity.

I mean, it's not their fault that they're making a dating sim and yall keep insisting it should be a meet'n'fuck. It's like going to a taco bell and being mad that the pizza is crap.
You could date all of them without issue in earlier versions, before the jealousy and polygamy systems were added.
Personally I like that they're striving for more "realism" though.

And I never found the game grindy. I think that as more activities and chapters are added, friendship and trust will just accumulate organically and most will stop complaining about it.

Right now people are essentially doing challenge runs trying to accomplish everything in chapter 1 only.

Just do like in RLE and make her half-japanese brit, that seems like a perfect solution to have both characters.
I highly agree with that, I do wonder how they'd solve the hair color question tho since Kwannon has a darker shade of purple compared to og Betsy.
