Outfits are good but something seems off to me. I can't put my finger on it but it's almost like some of the proportions are off, it might just be the way her hair is drawn but it feels like either her head should be smaller or her upper body a bit wider in the shoulders or slimmer at the waist.
Again, might just be me but there is a slight bobble head effect.

I still like the look of our TNH Kitty, but I do agree a bit with what you're saying. My ideal Kitty would be a little skinnier and properly petite.

Perhaps it's just a question of perspective/context? So far we've been seeing these character models for Chapter 2 in complete isolation, turned into separate PNGs for teaser purposes and so divorced from any backgrounds or points of reference. Could be that once they're implemented in the actual game, Kitty will look appropriately smaller next to the scenery and the other girls.

A couple of the guys behind this game float around here from time to time and have proven time and again they know their stuff. All fans here. One of the greatest strengths of this project.

And maybe it's just me, but she looks like there are two different sources of light- one for her body that doesn't interact with her hairstyle and one for her hairs that doesn't interact with her body

Kitty's been on industrial-strength hair straightener since the mid-80s, so most of y'all aren't used to seeing her with wavy hair, let alone the mass of curls that're one humid day from being a massive jewfro. Yes, I can sort of understand why the artists find drawing straight hair easier, but I miss the ball of floof the size of her head behind he head when she tied her hair back. Not going to ask for that, mostly because it would seemingly be a just me thing. But I would find it goddamned hilarious if her hair turned into that massive floofball in the rain.

I agree that the lighting is wack but nothing wrong with curly Kitty.

Project has a great blend different eras.
80-90s inspired plot for the comic guys, 90s music for the animated guys, for EVO everyone gets EVO inspired casual outfits.
Plus Goth Rogue. Plus early 2000s time era. And I think Laura was originally from EVO if I'm not mistaken.

Yeah, shes from EVO and showed up in comics in 2004
Her assets were already drawn so the devs decided to just stick her in even if lorewise that wouldnt happen in this era of the comics, besides, X-23 has been a fan favourite since she first showed up and outright eclipsed many other x-girls in popularity on her own, what are you gonna do? not add her?

She will. It's also a perspective thing. Null is 6'0 and Laura's like 5'1? She's "tall" like the others only because you'd be seeing nothing but her eyes and up if we didn't go for perspective distance.

In isolation Kitty's proportions don't seem petite but when next to other girls, in CGs, and when she's in the background she'll be tiny.

I read 30 years of comics in 1 month while one of our writers read 60 years across a more moderate 3 months. The dev team was genuinely concerned for my health and told me to stop outlining the plot once I hit chapter 4. I'll go back to outlining it when we get closer to it but I was brain storming too much.

1.0 also won't just be when Year 1 is finished. It's our hope that 1.0 will be when all core systems are in place so that we'll very rarely ever have to go under the hood.

A reminder for why we chose this approach. This is 99% of the reason other Renpy games have saves break. In our current dev cycle we've only had saves break ONCE because of this design philosophy.

The more complete it is, the more stable it will be so that we'll just need to plug in art and writing.

I would unironically hand the reigns of X-men to the TNH team, atleast they like the damn comics and characters.
I cant believe the characters read more like how they are supposed to sound like and act the part better than the actual comics.

To be somewhat fair, "ruin Scott's day" is a story trope they've used for awhile now. I guess it's almost tradition at this point.

But yeah they don't really seem to understand their own characters... or anything else they own for that matter. But that's a parent company wide problem.
