why not just give a Y/N option for players to choose BEFORE starting a game?

I assume it's a bit of all of the above. The devs are vocally against sexual rivalry and love triangle stuff. variables like that can really bite you in the ass later on, development wise. Having two different versions of that level of significance is basically doubling the amount of work for the same level of payoff. etc etc

Plus it's not like having it be a toggle would stop the chronic complainers from going full rant about its inclusion. Optional content is mandatory content for that demographic, and vice versa.

version 0.2 is not save compatible btw, you'd have to start over. v.3 and onwards are all save compatible but .2 is not

Look, I'm a month late to this comment, but I'm also assuming the viewpoint of you devs hasn't changed in the interim. If you're that worried about NTR complaints that you won't put the option in the game, why not just give a Y/N option for players to choose BEFORE starting a game? Or is it just more not worth doing the additional work to add such options for arguably little financial or personal incentive (ie, basically the same reason this game lacks a male homosexuality option)? I don't really care beyond preferring verisimilitude, so at this point I'm more just inquiring out of morbid curiosity...

Whiners and complaints aside, this is a perfectly valid point. Designing/implementing game loops then attempting to cram extra variables in later generally does not go well, even for experienced coders. Shoehorning stuff in after the fact is generally a recipe for weirdly unbalanced outcomes (unless that was the entire point, which is rare), if not a bunch of null value errors.

It's a Renpy issue not the game. Renpy dropped support for windows 7 going forward so any games using the newest version (think it's currently just the nightly builds not the official builds yet ) of Renpy will have the same requirements.

One thing I kinda started grinding my gears is that the volume of complaints has become so high that you can no longer ask questions without being brushed off as complaining.

I personally go into plenty of threads, like I did in this one as well, to get clarifications about tags. Plenty of games have tags which honestly don't tell me fuck all, for an example relevant to my questions in this thread (and to be clear I am not asking these questions now, just illustrating a point) the anal tag. How much content, aka is it just one scene? Is anal only possible? Anal creampies possible, as there isn't even a tag for it? Anal virginity?

And then when you get into a thread to get some clarification people just ignore questions as complaints. Drives me nuts. Got me to appreciate Shiny here a lot more, since he actually answers questions in this thread and is invaluable.

Anyway, I wanted to get to a point with Storm. Her being a non virgin makes perfect sense within the context of this world's internal logic. It's not ideal, in my case it instantly kills my main fetish, but I still appreciate it having logic behind why it is the way it is. Makes the world more believable and feel more alive, which is pretty fun. Besides, we get a new challenge now: fuck her so well she starts feeling like a virgin again.

And, if everything else fails, there is always the chance someone makes a mod that can change variables and what not. Even in this early stage of the game we have them, so I have no doubts we will be able to change plenty of stuff to suit our own individual tastes somewhere down the road.

I've said a few times that I don't mind repeating questions.

The only time it bothers me:

1. Someone asks me under the context of hoping I change my mind. Mostly because I don't have the power to get the team to change their stance.

2. If it's already answered on the same page. If it's a page back I have some understanding but if I answered the question like 5 seconds ago and someone asks it without checking then I get slightly miffed.

This is the right mindset to have. I think it's a good one to have IRL too. Focus on being good at pleasing your partner over having a lot of them.
