Status update!
I've been happy to be able to find a lot of time to code the last few months - I have a shelf exam coming up, so we'll see if I actually pass, but I'm optimistic.
The main thing I've been working on is getting the base code finalized and ready for Ch. 2 characters. I'm frontloading this work as much as I can for 0.8c so that 0.9 and 1.0 can be primarily art and animation updates with. The main things that players can expect from this code update are:
1) More varied dialogue and sandbox interactions.
2) Smoother gameplay, particularly on Android.
The main things modders and translators can expect from this code update are:
1) Much easier methods to hook your custom activities, events, scenes, reactions, etc. I've talked a lot about how I want modding to be as much of a drag-and-drop experience as possible, with limited need to override existing functions to achieve what you want. We're basically there with this coming game version.
2) Exposure of all game strings to Ren'Py's automatic translation system, including in-game text that was previously handled through Python functions and were therefore not available to native Ren'Py translation.
We're making fantastic progress on the art side as well. Right now I'm working to get poses for the new Ch. 2 characters sorted out. We're also finalizing the cutout scenes that will be coming in 0.9 and making some spot updates to the existing art to make sure quality remains consistent across the board as the artists and I figure out better ways to achieve the game vision.

Wheres that model from?
She kinda looks like her IRL actress there but way more muscular and tall.

I'll trade in Consent Simulator™ for Hat Simulator™.
Technically we have a couple of hats already, does Rogue's bandana count as a hat too?

  2. Interesting that Emma's first costume here already has a little blue X-symbol. I get that's because it's her New X-Men look, but I'm wondering if it's a sneaky hint for the plot of TNH.
  3. Dazzler's hips are insane. I sure hope she doesn't have hyperlordosis.
  4. Kitty's flared jeans are a perfect touch. I know the game already has a period setting, but I think it'd be neat/mildly humorous if Kitty still dressed like a girl from 1980. Go all Freaks & Geeks with her. If Dazzler can't be disco, then at least let Kitty look like she's trying to escape from the big-collared spectre of the late 70s.

Her jeans are pretty late70s-early 80s.:LOL:
But she does still have the midriff going a bit since that's the thing in the 90s-00s.
