Complete the friendship quests first. They're mandatory for plot progression since team building is needed.

But I did. There is nothing beyond them.

The saves were broken by a major update so it's possible that many of your issues are sourced to that.

I started on 0.8c beta, just not sure which one that was.

At this point grinding is an addiction to me in this game and my playthrough is also going to be polycule, I can't bear the though of seeing other girls sad.

Well, while i like the eyes and mouth, i think it fits better with the base avatar artwork to leave Null without facial details.
