Yeah we're not going this route.

We'll have some edge with Null being a positive influence but we're not gonna be like Marvel and have Allison bang half of Hollywood, most of which was non-consensual, and get addicted to three different drugs just to get a big contract that falls through 5 seconds after she's outed as a mutant.
Not gonna lie, I was hoping you were going to say this. Being a member of an X-Men probably comes with enough pain and suffering as it is without adding unneccessary EDGE to the characters to make a point about the entertainment industry.

She actually was going to make it. But...

Believe it or not, not every singer had to be a coked up prostitute in the 80s to make it big.
The timing was also awful. If she were outed as a mutant after she became a gigastar that could fill stadiums singing Ba-Ba-Blacksheep, things would have played out different.
Anyway, she had the talent so it all came down to timing and chance for her success.
But with writers loving misery and wanting metaphors for the entertainment industry, that chance was zero unless she went to Xavier for a better life.
Emma had a similar thing where she could have gone to Xavier, but chose to do things herself and claw her way through a miserable path.

The lesson: always go to the rich bald guy and his school of psycho outcasts. (y)
Too bad Allison didn't know she was going to be used as a not very subtle metaphor for the dark side of show business. Glad to hear that won't be the case in TNH; looks like Null will act as a guiding light in the darkness of her career or something like that.
