Question as someone who only has seen psylocke in the Jim Lee runs in early 90s: is her character even remotely interesting outside the love triangle with Jean and The Cuck® and being a two tits on a broomstick? What makes her different from any other character? Hell even lady hellstrike was less boring back then

I liked her just for the "magic sword" gimmick, but there are better characters like Magik that fill that trope.

Worth noting Rogue is an absolute bad ass in this run. Also introduced a very under uztilized character lifeguard.

Where did that come from? Why are you so hung up? You didn't notice. Just show her as asian. Where did the hang up on announcing things come from? Because you didn't see things?

Exactly what her parentage is, it's more of backstory and trivia anyway. Why is that a problem? Should dev time be wasted showing exactly how her parents came together? It's a minor detail. Shouldn't matter. If there is dialogue for it, cool, if not people will be curious and might ask for a backstory from someone if they care enough, just to fill details if nothing else.

Well, no. My point, from the beginning is, just don't say it. It's not necessary. I didn't call anyone else obsessive. I didn't say anything else you said I said. I didn't say it was a problem. I'm actually saying the opposite. It's so obvious and so not a problem that you shouldn't bring it up. Just treat it like the grass is green. Here's the exact quote:

I'm still in the camp of "Don't bring it up and let the reader/player make up the head cannon for themselves." since these are fictional characters and it's all in our heads anyways. But I forget what Shiny and the devs ended up landing on for their approach.

Everything else you think I'm saying, that's your interpretation. That's your own internal dialogue. I'm just saying, don't say it. Show her as Asian. Hell, show her as Japanese. Make her appear in a kimono while speaking Japanese in a Shinto temple while performing a tea ceremony. Just don't outright say it. I mean, for all I know, the devs can decide she's Canadian-Korean and adopted by British parents who sent her off to ninja school because they're ex-MI6 agents with a debt of honor with the Yakuza or something and no one would know the difference.

And Oni did neither. It isn't an either or thing. Hell, they could make her a British woman who has an ancient ancestor who's a Skrull and she got stuck when she transformed herself into a Japanese woman to do some infiltration or something. This is the dev's own universe. We're not limited to just those two options.

She HAS to have a story that is somewhat Psylocke.

Because Kwanon and Betsy Braddock are two different people, homever, the Psylocke we were familiar with in the comic, was the mind of Betsy in the body of Kwanon, and if she shows up as a LI, thats a very violent conversation to have.

If it's relevant to her story or involvement (IF she shows up, no hopes built up here), then it's entirely reasonable for her to say it. If not, she wouldn't. The writers so far aren't gratuitous or frivolous with their stuff- they don't just cram shit in there for no reason, at least not that I can tell.

(SCENE: Null walks into kitchen seeking nourishment after long night of railing Laura into the wall; sees broomstick with two tits standing in front of fridge)

Psylocke: "Hello, call me Psylocke, I'm British/Japanese/British-Japanese."

Null: "Y- uh, yeah, hi, that's nice. Can you- can you move, please, I need orange juice very badly."

Look, gentle sirs. If the writers think Psylocke's race/ethnicity is important for whatever reason, they'll address it. If not, they won't. Don't draw battle lines between the two- relax. She'll be smokin' hot either way. Trust in the Force devs.
