I've just noticed again how nitpicking this is after asking all three girls to become girlfriends in a row despite everyone accepting multiple partners (polyamory) during each boyfriend talk.
After the first boyfriend talk, you have to immediately Ask if you can date… the other girls, otherwise you get slapped with mad and heartbroken status very soon when you instead simply ask the next one becoming your girlfriend.
Don't ignore following comments!
Laura "As long as you're here when I want and tell me who you plan on dating."
Rogue "But, Ah'd really appreciate it if you could tell me who you plan on datin' before you go after 'em."
Jean "Well, you better at least tell me before you try dating someone else."
That's why it is also important that you reach L250/T600 first before finishing the third date with someone.
The Ask if you can date… dialogue acceptance only requires Friend to another girl, so you don't necessarily need to grind so much friendship points.
This will also most likely become important later when the next girls enter the mansion arena in chapter 2, that you shouldn't start flirting with them right away in public but rather also ask the chapter-1 girls at first to date the newcomers after these become Friend to them at first. Shared classroom, training and study sessions can help to boost the newcomers' Trust value and friendship again.
If chapter 3 is going to introduce another bunch of girls, this could become quite a tiresome procedure making nine girls becoming Friends to each other if rather only up to three can share whatever activity.

I'm pretty sure in earlier versions the player did not have to be in the same location. Girls got a point if they ended a time period in the same room together regardless of player location. Did they change that?
cuz the more girls there are the higher the chance they're in the same room together.
I thought the same, but according to my test with displayed friendship points they don't gain any points left alone. They gained combat leaderboard scores in the danger room but no friendship points.
It also looks like they rather gain 2/4 points instead of 1/2 fp for activities according to the code, but maybe there is a hidden modifier I haven't found yet.
I'll do some more tests another time.

Update #7: aligned the quick menu vertically what works especially well on the sex screen hardly ever obscuring characters anymore, also moved the notification popups on the sex screen back to the upper-left corner next to the Finish button
The notification popups on the sex screen are originally right on top of the lower-left dirty-talk menu what makes the move from the original upper-left position down there very questionable. Luckily, I had a "horny" msg popping up, so I noticed and corrected that quite soon.
QM: I first thought about only vertically on the sex screen, but I think vertically doesn't look that shabby together with the original belt-sidebar menu either.
You can always toggle the QM off by "w" key anyway if you want to totally get rid of it while unused. You can also toggle auto-text by "a" key as the QM doesn't need to show up for that.

Did more tests about the friendship gain.
First while grinding 100x working for Xavier and earning $50k, I've noticed that the girls passively earned their leaderboard score points but absolutely zero friendship points in more than 75 days...
Did another test by waiting and sleeping a couple of days. No FP gain.
So much about passive friendship point gain...
It looks quite different when the player takes action in the same locations.
Laura and Rogue in the classroom.
First, I let Laura hang in the background and didn't approach her. I only took class with Rogue. No FPs gained although both scored (A) for the cognitive leaderboard. The FPs are the numbers in the 300er range on the far right: rank|fps.
Next, I've approached Laura and took class with both of the girls. Both girls gained 2 FPs for each other.
Lastly here, I didn't took class but used the Wait action. Only Laura gained academic points. Same happens if I leave the classroom and use Wait. I had called Rogue into the classroom before, so that visit wasn't her regular class schedule unlike Laura's.

"Wisdom is only possessed by the learned."

This is my understanding from memory so I might be wrong, keep that in mind.
I brought this up some time ago how the friendship mechanic ( relationship between the girls ) would become exponentially more time consuming as each trio of girls are added. My understanding was the developers felt that it was fine the way it is right now and they do not intend for people to romance everyone but will not block it. They do not want to make it easy for people wanting to romance every girl in a single play through.
They would have a different default friendship level, so some of them might already be friends, some worse. So not sure if that helps as with some needing less and some needing more grinding it would just be back to the same problem. And the polygamy limit needed to reach would be different for each girl. Currently the limit is a default value I believe.
It comes down to it works fine right now but might be a problem later on and I have no doubt they would adjust it if it does. Hopefully as I plan to romance them all.
Something something, whats the ETA on the next update? save myself from coming here every few weeks and just wondering

I might consider it for the future but there are so many rules to read and follow though before posting mods...
Now I know why the friendship points are doubled: the code loops through every character but also rewards points from other_C to C.
The loop goes on to the other_C which gives again points to itself and to the previous C character.

Renpy and especially Python is still a learning process for me.
Discontentment is the mother of all mods. No need for pleas to the dev gods if mortals like us can do wonders as well.
No idea how to properly append new database entries yet, but I've modified the existing database with a new Tutorial: Friendships entry meanwhile.
