I think it might be a bug. If you watch the toast messages, Anna Marie gets closer to both and both get closer to her, but there is never a message about Laura getting closer to Jean or Jean getting closer to Laura. That is not the case when only two are present. If Anna Marie is not present then the expected messages about both getting closer to the other occur.

Note that the messages about trust and xp gain do appear for all three if they are present.

Yeah, I confirm this. Had to study with Jean and Laura only to get them closer.

I just checked with setting Jean and Laura to acquaintance. If you download URM( Universal Ren'py Mod) you can check the points too. If they are already good friends, then it's maxed out.

Reading the latest comments, especially after the release of the new version of the game, I never cease to admire its developers and the old-timers of the forum. This version of Kitty looks too much like Emma Watson in her early teens to do it for me. Feels pretty creepy because it just reminds of all the old dudes who used to count down until she was legal. It's even more jarring since everyone else seems to be aged up.

Also read something about Emma being older but she's around the same age as Jean and Scott usually.

That was never a real thing, except for Hollywood producers. There are dissertations on YouTube with recipes that the countdown was satire that people essentially wanted to be true so they could point and have a meltdown about morality.

This is true it seems. She might have been aged up to something closer to the age she was at when she joined the X-Men in comics. Which in comics her joining was years after her first appearance events.
