Hi everyone!
This week, I spent time thinking and writing in more detail about the scenes I want to include in this part. Ideas float into my head as the week progresses, and I am starting to feel really good about most scenes in this part. I am nearing the start of writing the script, but I still have a few things to consider. This part is a bit more challenging because of the free-roam event I want to include.
I also began designing a mini-game for this free-roam event, which will be integrated into the game. This game can help the player gain some Perv/Gent points while also unlocking special renders. So be sure that it's worth the play. I will make it easy for the most part, but with a small challenge.
That's about all I have to share with you this week. I am concentrating on finishing all the scene designs, and because some of them are scenes in the free roam, I need to do a good job so I won't need to redesign them. Bear with me on this one.
Steam
I just realized I need to move quickly with Steam. Steam just announced a new rule that forbids early access for adult games. I am not planning to release early access; instead, I plan to release a full chapter and possibly change the terminology to something like 'book 1'. But the issue is that Steam can pull another rule out of its sleeves. So I need to move fast with that. I need to make some adjustments to the current build and create a Steam page and a demo Steam page as soon as possible. So I am going to focus on doing that before it's too late for me. I already feel a bit stupid that I didn't do it until now. I need a wider audience. And the Steam page can give me that. This is very crucial at this point. So this is my top priority right now.
Special Renders
This week, I created three commissioned renders. They are private, and I can't share them, but it took me the whole of Sunday and part of Monday to finish. It was challenging.

Not yet, but eventually I would assume they become LIs since you basically bang anything with a pulse in this game

Almost true. But You MUST make the right choices. If you do not, the "banging" may not happen. Your choices in this game matter more than in most other games. The game sort of even tells you when you messed up some where, but not where. That is on you. I know because I have made more mistakes than most

Someone wrote that Giovanna is too much of a fantasy for him. The truth is that a real person with those real measurements inspired Giovanna's character. It's a person I know very well, and let me tell you, nothing in Giovanna is a fantasy; it's very, very close to real life.
New GUI
One of my Steam-related efforts is changing the UI. The current UI is not acceptable to Steam. They don't accept links from other platforms that are integrated into the game. So the social menu needs to be removed from everywhere. Since I am already touching the UI, it's time for a lift-up. I tested something I wanted to do for a long time, and it was successful. So I decided to implement it.
It wasn't a small effort; I needed to change all the behaviour from the normal renpy behavior to a custom behaviour that I needed to implement. Furthermore, I created new buttons with render for each one and shaped them to look the way I wanted, as I desired. However, in the end, I think it's worth it. I am proud of what I have accomplished, and I can now proceed to create a Steam page with the current build I have. You can check out the 25-second video demo above.
I feel I know how to handle screens in Renpy. It gives me more freedom to create what I want in mini-games and free roam as well, and it will be worth the time I spend on it in the future.
I still need to change things. However, this is sufficient for Steam, so that the other changes will follow in the future. Now that I have gathered many ideas, I started writing the script for part 4.

Not sure I'd choose to spell what Dianna calls her sister as "Merc". In English, that's pronounced with a kay (IPA: /k/) at the end, and it's short slang for mercenary or what mercenaries do: kill. If it's supposed to be that Dianna is just leaving off the e sound (IPA: /iː/) at the end of the name, it would be better written as "Merce". Yes, it's the same number of letters, but that only affects spelling: English requires the silent e for the letter to make an ess sound (IPA: /s/). Alternately, since you'd be only representing the sound of what Dianna says, you could spell it "Mers", though that could get confused with the respiratory illness.

Isn't it the abbreviation for Mercedes? From what I know that's a girl name in Spain/latin languages. If so pronouncing it with a k sound seems super weird. English is a fucked up language.

I won't argue that about English. However, it is actually mostly a hard, fast rule in English: the letter c is pronounced like an s when followed by an e, i, or y; otherwise, it's always a k. There is an exception (because English is stupid) that when the c is followed by i and at the end of a word, it will also almost always be a k in sound.
c pronounced with the sound /k/:
cactus, cause, call, mica
coyote, control, cost, fiasco
cut, cull, cum, barbecue
roc, sec, maniac, medic
c pronounced with the sound /s/:
cell, cent, presence, wince
cicada, cist, cigar, foci*
bicycle, cymbal, cyan, urgency
*pronounced either as /s/ or /k/ . . . because English is stupid.
That's why I was suggesting an e be added at the end: to ensure it's seen as an /s/ sound instead for Mercy's shortened name.
If you are supposed to pronounce her nickname as Merss (because her name is pronounced Mer Say Dees), it should be spelled Merce in English. CookieMonster's analysis is spot on. Stray e's at the ends of words do a lot of work in terms of pronunciation in English.
Although, I have never in my long life heard an American speaker say Foci as Fosy. (And yet supposedly this is the American pronunciation. Go figure.)

Just wanted to ask something
should I make a branch save based on LI (Love Interest) only, or on LI + MC personality type? I’m kind of stuck at an impasse. Like, Lauren’s branch fits the ‘gentleman’ route, but there’s also the ‘perv’ one. Same goes for Rosa. And well, Dianna being perv is a no-brainer. Right now, I have two branches for every single girl since the game isn’t a harem type. Any thoughts?

No, of course not. If c is followed by u, it's a /k/ sound, as was previously explained. Why would you think the sound has to be the same in both singular and plural? Do you pronounce women the same as woman?

I have a question... At the end of the event with Kim (and other scenes), I get an option I can't choose, and I guess I made a different choice, and it cuts me off. I've tried other choices, even starting the game, and it still won't let me choose that option. What should I do?
