I think the game was doing better when it was still being developed using Unity. This game was born a VN and playing the rpg mode feels off. Changing it to Ren'py would've been a more cost effective approach in my opinion.
Very true. RPG maker isn't really meant for visual novels. I mean, it's literally called "RPG Maker"... It's meant for RPGs. (Or, well, really anything that is adjacent to it... And horror games. Lots and lots of horror games.) It would have made sense to move to it during the whole Unity drama that happened a month or two ago, since everyone is deathly afraid of download fees (for good reason), but it's been like this for a long while. Ren'py (or hell, even Tyrano, even though I can't imagine people using that unironically... And plus, I think that's paid. I forgot if that's true.) would have been a better home if you were looking for a cost-effective alternative though.

That and the art is really good (though I'm biased here because I enjoy witchking00's art style).
True. Any Witchking00 art is a gift considering no one ever leaks their Patreon. Not that I'd care all too much, but all the good art comes from the paywall.

That made me laugh so hard I decided to meme about it:

Meh, why not. I just got a dozen posts deleted on another thread for arguing semantics against zero patience coomers with the reading comprehension of fifth graders. Sometimes I wonder wether some forum dwellers actually are of age... Anyway, time to throw caution to the wind and join this discussion properly:

All in all, It is still worth playing as the "If commander Sheppard had a son" porn parody it was apparently intended to be. That and the art is really good (though I'm biased here because I enjoy witchking00's art style).

...

Also, holy shit, man, that back and forth between the dev and the reincarnated Descartes guy was the kind of shit every forum troll could only aspire to participate in :KEK:

The problem with Ren'py is, from what I hear several devs complain about, is when you venture out the visual novel or map clicking aspect and go into stuff like combat, the rollback feature ends up really, severely biting it in the ass, to the point where it can build up memory usage and just eventually tank a system. Charon wanted to implement the missions and mini-game stuff to make it feel more like a "game" and less like just a visual novel, but the visual novel mode is there if you just wanna speed through story and get to the sex.

Rollback can be disabled by the dev. And that's exactly my point, now development time must be divided between vn and rpg mode, hence it's less cost-effective.

I don't follow? The (VN) system is set up and ready to go in RPGM? Nothing more needs to doing to it. The early Unity builds also didn't work reliably for 50% of the user base so I think I made the correct choice.

How far along are the gameplay systems? I don't really care whether it's a straightforward rpg or some management thing or whatever but it would pad out the game nicely if I couldn't just get someone's full scenes immediately, makes it feel rewarding.
Also not trying to get into a gotcha debate with you but you wrote that the art is the limiting factor for updates but from my perspective the gameplay is what's been talked about the longest yet all I've read are barebones ideas. I wouldn't mind a test demo or video of the gameplay even without art assets if that was something you could do.

No backlog and no ability to save during conversations are two biggest complaints from me.
In my opinion even the Ren'Py engine is too rudimentary but I've been spoiled by Japanese VNs and their conveniences.

Is there a way to transfer save data between updates?
Saves are located in "the-solarion-project\www\save." Just drag the save folder from the previous build into the folder for the new build and it should work. Note that a save folder wont be created until a save has been made, so you wont be able to find the folder unless its a build youve played

Do add big´s. Meaning u have to start new game. Save first file. DONE

Copy & paste previous save folder old update/old game version OR save files TO new update save folder. DONE!

Enjoy!

this is only wae at the moment RPGmaker games move those datas to new ones.

Ren´py games automatically "upload" those datas to new updates from AppData folder
so mostly doesn´t have to manually copy pastes renpy games & save-files
