I totally disagree with the bad reviews this game is getting... Complaining about the sandbox aspect when it's better implemented than 95% of other sandbox games just shows you don't appreciate sandbox games and would rather just have a kinetic visual novel mode with a continuous flow of scenes. But that vision of the game doesn't interest me. I think the resource and village management aspect is a great idea—it gives a break between the "x" scenes because just having back-to-back scenes would have quickly bored me. It also gives coherence to the storyline, where the harem aspect is a bonus, not the core gameplay style. The gameplay style is about management and free-roam.
Yes, there are some points that bother me, but here I'm not giving my personal opinion; I'm just saying that the critiques are missing the point. And of course, there can be different perspectives, whether you like it or not, but attacking it on points that are actually its strengths just shows that people aren't on the same page. Okay, maybe I'm defending this game out of love because I adore it, and future updates will make it even better, but I try to stay objective. And objectively, it delivers on its promises and its tags, and it even does justice to sandbox games with higher ratings or more support, which often end up losing their way.
For once, we have real thought put into the gameplay and narrative, and I find it a shame that it’s getting trashed, when that's the kind of critique we should reserve for games that get abandoned halfway, or that pull in $4,000 a month and take at least eight months per update...
Besides, no one seems to care, but the psychological aspect and the various relationships between the girls and with the MC prove that there’s real thought put into doing things well. It’s well-written, and whether you like the game or not, denying that is just bad faith.
