If you can play as a Male proagonist, why do I not see it in the tags?

Edit: oh I see, you for some unknown reason, decided to remove it just so we can only see some carpet munching scenes. Waste of time.

"One Heroic Man" meanwhile, not a single man in his game:KEK:

Unfortunately, I really can't get behind this game. The renders are terrible. Weird shadows, low image quality, and the girls with bigger boobs are so comically huge that it's a turn-off. Some of them are so huge that there's weird clipping issues in the renders because it seems like they've been dialed further than the program generally allows.

no. im a hetrosexual male. This seems to be a shock for you, but some dudes arent into lesbo porn. A big part of porn is imagining you are the person there. but you can keep strawmanning about me liking gay porn if it makes yourself feel better i suppose.

So I am looking at the poll results and I find it odd that less than 50% of those that voted wanted to have a MC that was male and the female MC is lesbian sex only yet a majority of the people polled wanted pregnancy. That seems like proof that either the poll was flawed in its working or that there was some type of shenanigans with the polls, which I doubt but the fact that there are two mutually exclusive results suggests that the poll is crap in terms of how it was constructed.

The polls results are screwy as well.

In terms of sex of the MC there is calculation error as well. 90+188+160 = 438 NOT 556. So of the people who actually voted on the sex of the MC you get an obvious winner and it is not female because that is a minority position, the position that give the best outcome statistically is the both result. Why? because when you include how many people want to play a man you get a clear majority result of 57% (the both camp and the male only camp 90+160 = 250 / 438 ) And when you include how many people want to play a female you get another clear majority at 79%. When you have two majority results the clear and obvious solution is both. That is actually how you should be reading these statistics. Also when 74% of those who answered the pregnancy question say they want it where only those who answered said question are included in the outcome 299 out of 404 is 74%. There is clear demand for male MC. Yet I am baffled how the community saw that poll data and concluded there was a clear mandate for a female only game.

The dev should make the game they want period and screw the poll but statistically speaking the results of the poll suggest that a "both result" was what the community wanted based on the fact that a majority wanted pregnancy that voted in that portion of the poll and over 50% wanted to include a male in the first part of the poll. Yes there is a clear majority for a female MC but when both results of the poll put both sexes in a majority position that shows a clear demand for both so again the logical conclusion in reading the data is include both. Coupled with the fact that a majority wanted pregnancy and given that the only way that pregnancy was going to be added was with a male Mc becaue male mc equated to hetro sex and female MC equates to lesbian sex.

But as i said the developer should make the game they want and screw the poll I just found it odd how badly people where interpreting the data.

As already pointed out, pregnancy does not at all require a male MC. There are many ways to have pregnancy in a females only story, both realistic and fantastical.

Secondly, you seem to fail to understand the point of having all three options in the poll. Male only, female only or both are all separate options because they mean different things. The people who voted for Male only didn't want there to be a female MC and vice versa. The people who voted the "both" option wanted to have both MCs. Those are all different outcomes.
You can't interpret the results to mean "people want both" when the "both" option lost the poll.

If the result is "Female only" that means people only want a female MC. That could be for any number of reasons like halving development time or allowing the game to go in directions that wouldn't be possible if it had to accommodate a male MC.

EDIT: Funny you keep saying the dev should "make the game they want, screw the poll". Maybe the dev wasn't too sure of what they wanted and decided to leave it to the poll. What's the point of the poll otherwise? Some devs don't have it all figured out from the start and want people's opinions. You can't then tell them "screw the opinions" as soon as they don't align with what you like... not that I'd presume to know your preferences.

Can someone explain why adding back the (skippable) male option is so offensive? I'm more into hetero content and really like the premise. The only reasonable explanation is dev time, which, ok fair, but I kind of doubt that's got people this riled up.

IMO this game was more designed for the male gaze anyway based on the exaggerated bodies (though if there are any lesbians here for this specific game power to you, would be interesting to know).

As for GreenDark and the poll results, a majority of respondents want a male character (57%) and a separate majority want a female character (79%), while no single result (except pregnancy) won an outright majority. This type of poll is super complicated and brings up questions of how to interpret results much like that of an election with more than two candidates (ranked choice, instant runoff, etc.). I'd expect that an overwhelming portion of the male only respondents would have "both" as their second choice in a runoff.

I don't think it's so much the addition of an optional male character is a problem, more the way that a lot of people that ask for it seem to act like it should automatically be there anyway, and not having it is some kind of problem or oversight. Basically, the problem is that some people just can't accept that a game might just not be for them.

I have two main thoughts regarding this game & thread.
  • Dear god please keep this as a female protagonist/lesbian game. Trying to add a playable dude would just kill the whole point and vibe of the game, at least in my opinion.
    • Especially since the game talks about how the village is supposed to be this woman-only lesbian nudist hideaway, and the set-up for some scenes (like with the shrine priestess) relies a lot on the protagonist being a kind of air-headed, goes-along-with-whatever woman character.
  • Huh. This rework/reboot is... kinda funky. Really curious JavaScript(?)-based engine where Ren'Py probably would've worked just as well (possibly even better, and for free), but it's a little more functional than whatever was going on with the old version and its heavily-altered RPGM approach.
    • The environments are so incohesive it hurts. Modern Japanese tatami-mat room in a medieval European inn/tavern inside a classic Japanese exterior style (that the entire village uses.) One girl's room (the only one you see in her entire house) is an extremely modern room plastered in anime paraphernalia and plushies, but another girl lives in an extremely old-school Japanese house (the only one that really matches the exterior.)
    • Character models look better, I think? More distinct visual differences across the whole cast; especially in regards to Reina, Ayaka, and Kumiko, who I remember being really similar in the old version (but that could be a case of faulty memory.)
