Yes, it's a shame this game didn't come to anything. Sometimes I'm surprised how mediocre games thrive, but some good games like this one die. Anyway, that's the way it is.
This game also thrived once. I regret to say most FMC games on this site don't have a chance to survive till completion.

It sucks that so many creators of games with well made corruption get abandoned. It's almost as if it's too hard and not worth the trouble from a financial point of view. Us quality content enjoyers are doomed to spend way more time than the normies to find what to watch. It really eats a lot of my time.
I know this is an old comment, but I honestly never thought about it that way...

Is it really that hard to make a living creating games with corruption? Could the gender of the characters be a factor?
I've noticed that there are significantly fewer games with female characters. Does this mean there's less interest, or is it the other way around and the reason is completely different?

What are you talking about..? Dev made this VN basically for free dev wasn't on Patreon or SS.

Who said I was talking about this game?? I was responding to tarzan999 comment about corruption games, not this game. My only observation was that perhaps gender matters, since there are significantly fewer games with female protagonists but that's just my opinion...

Unfortunately, I don't think it's the game's genre. If this game had a Patreon, it surely would have had enough followers. But as they say, even games with thousands of dollars...They don't release updates. This is more a problem of lack of professionalism, time, etc... That said, if the author of this masterpiece decides to return, I'll do whatever it takes to see it finished xD

The developer of this game didn't want to commit to what he was doing. He didn't want to receive messages asking him when a new update would be released, and he sent messages whenever he felt like it. Worst of all, there was no other way to find out anything about him. Paradoxically, he said he was disappointed that more people didn't like what he was doing.

In short, he was one of those conflictive artists with brilliant ideas; many people want this game and consider it pure gold, but from one day to the next he disappeared without any explanation; I suppose some people prefer to disappear rather than face the people who love what they do.

I still refuse to give up hope completely. As long as we have no final "I stopped doing it and never will start again!" from the dev himself the project is still going.

I also stopped somewhere (hopefully way before the ending) so it feels like I still could get back to it and still have content left.

I really feel a little sting of sadness in my black heart when I think about Paula and what I could have done to her. I only have this feeling with very little, maybe 2 or 3 of the other VNs here.

Well maybe one day comes just one drop and BAM! it's finished. Maybe...

People think of something like 2k a month on patreon as a success story. Way above average. Sounds like a lot of money. But 24k a year minus patreon cut and taxes isn't enough to enough to live on many places. So most people are still gonna have to keep a different job, which will probably take priority.

The only projects that make big bucks are either glorified 3d animation galleries or the absolute most generic vanilla harem projects targeting the median male voter.

This particular game was made simply for the love of pornographic art, so to speak. It is literally written in the Dev notes, so economics is not a factor in this specific game.

When we say that this game should have had more resources for its promotion, it is mainly to give it visibility rather than for money. Because the dev made it very clear that he made this game because nothing like it existed and he wanted to create it.

Maybe if they had opened a successful patreon the game wouldn't be abandoned. Clearly love of the game wasn't enough on it's own, was it?

Like I said every kind of projects get abandoned, even when they have a "successful" patreon account. I don't think the situation would be different if this dev had a patreon, he could have disappeared like he did in this case, as many others do. And it would be worse because having a patreon open for donations gives you obligations towards your supporters.

That one's really on the supporters. If a dev is inactive and you don't cancel, you're actively setting a bad precedent that makes the industry worse for everyone else. Like people who spend money on gatcha games.

We are all adults here. If someone wants to support a project just because, without expecting anything in return that is totally their choice imho. I don't see any way it could make "the industry" (whatever that is) any worse.

Not saying this dev would necessarily have stuck around if they had a patreon, but it might have helped. If your passion project is also covering your rent, that's just one more reason to keep going.

If you set a precedent that devs can get paid for barely putting out anything, more and more devs are going to coast along barely putting out anything. If everyone put a freeze on their payments the instant a dev stopped giving their a-game, there'd be a real fire under their ass. Instead, 80% of the projects on this site are in development hell because you can make thousands of dollars putting out a few renders a year. Everyone gets less content and less bang for their buck.

The road from horse armor dlc to our modern $80, battlepass, pay-to-win, legal gambling, gacha hellscape was paved with poor financial discipline.
