The SAZ mod or any other mod isn't going to work with this, everything will have to be updated, as said in the mod thread there is "micro changes" all throughout the gmae. There isn't much "new" content, but lots of changes and updated graphics, etc.

You can use this: Universal Ren'Py Mod / URM [2.4] (mod any Ren'Py game yourself) <---works for 98.9% of Ren'Py games.



It's just a beta and with some changes, saves might not work with this version.

If you used mods or anything else as well with it that will also be a cause.

You don't need any mod. There is built in cheater in the game, since early versions I think.
