Oh wow, how have I not found this game until now!

Played through a fair chunk of it and enjoying it. The walkthrough seems a bit useless to be honest. Are the in-game hints any better?

The walkthrough's ok... It's as good as it can be for this game as it is. The in-game hints/guide is arguably better, in that it's more precise for certain things, but it's not an in depth guide to unlocking content.

Using a combination of the walkthrough, in-game hints and the green icon indicator for locations is the "best way" to go through the game.

I don't suppose any of you fine folk know what the progress is like for this game? As in, how often does it get updated, and how far into development it is? Is it relatively close to completion?

Frequency of updates aren't the best.
Many times there's been months of no updates and little-to-no communication for various reasons. This has caused quite the backlash to both the game and Saddog as the dev too.

Regardless of how often it's updated, it's still progressing... Just not as quickly as many of us would like.

So I've been playing the "goody two shoes" path for this game and I've been selecting the green options in almost all scenarios. yet at the end of the day I lose Relationship points. Am I doing something wrong??

The more you interact with the gals to raise points, the more the game will lower it. IIRC, a 15-20 point rise is about the most you can get away with before you start getting penalties.
I think I'd have to check the day.rpy for specifics when I have time.

The actual plot hasn't even been touched on yet. Just random sex scenes. No continuity yet except in a few cases.

It's obvious that complexity of such a game completely owerwhelmed him. It's still a good learning experience for him and relatively OK game for us. But I still remember erotic Skyrim-like sandbox he annouced I was really hyped when first version came out and I really hope someone with better programming skills will take this idea.

Will take more as just better coding skills likely, also a way bigger team with a few artists working together and a lot of time. Question is of course if the money is there to supports such a team, spending the time on it that is needed.

Might be. But I honestly don't think that a sandbox type of game requires that many renders per update. Look at this one - it has less renders per 5 updates than typical VN per 1 because of how complex whole programming and idea is. Introducing functions (take shower, use computer etc.) etc. takes much more time and I feel that people would easily support this type of a sandbox game if characters were interesting enough. Initial characters in this one were quite good (especially Alexis) and people supported it quite nicely even tho it was almost dead in development. Still, sandbox erotic game with free choices and realistic characters is what I consider a Holy Grail of erotic business. Girl's Life was pretty good at it but engine, writing and lack of renders breaks whole idea. I really hope someone will try to simulate that. As for saddog I would go for a VN. Even the most complex VNs are easy as hell in comparison to this one so he can create some decent game that way.
