I feel like a genius for working out that code. Took about 5 minutes to solve it, but that's only because I didn't realise the code was meant to be six numbers until I properly read what Kayla says.

Thank You for sharing ^^bYep, completely. I have nothing against NTR specifically. I'm not a fan of creepy old guy/young girl porn and after the Weinstein thing I don't care for like that whole scenario there in general. Also, you making it made it canon to the story as far as I'm concerned. So, yeah, favorite character from the story deflowered by creepy old guy... nope, not a fan. Still, like I said before, 30 days is a good game and wish you well.
Saves time and discomfort.

I never even saw the side story. I played as a female cousin, and I resisted Alexis' (sleepwalking) advances, but bought her the cute kitty outfit. It never came up for me.

It doesn't matter if it's a a non-canon side story, what if, alternate universe or whatever other excuse you come up with to avoid backlash, the character is totally ruined for people that hate NTR. Since the dev has already shown they're willing to create NTR scenes if the price is right, i'd wager that more is coming.

Side story is not in the main game at all, Its a completely separate download for the reasons we are seeing here.

I haven't even played your game if i'm being honest mate. I just think it's sad to see a dev sell out and add content the majority of their target audience is going to hate. But if someone is willing to offer you a stupid amount of money to create such scenes then good for you i guess?

The reason I ask, as a defense for myself, and other devs in similar situations.
You're an independent developer, working on a game that you are currently giving away for free, in hopes to once their is enough content you can release on steam, you are surviving on the kindness of people that support your game and what you are doing to give you a few dollars when they can.
One of you're supporters comes to you, says hey i can offer you $$$$ to do this, but it contains NTR.
and the "Majority" as you put it, offers you nothing, to not do it.
As a dev you are like hmm.. I could easily the take money and upgrade my system with it so you can work on your main story faster.
90% of the time you are going to do it.
But why release it publicly? You will piss off the "Majority".
Because you can make another $$$$ if you sell it for $5 so you can buy another video card.
The "Majority" will be mad, but you won't loose any subscribers, actually you will gain subscribers, and you can continue working on the main game, for apparently the "Minority."
Theirs some people here I am actually disappointed got upset because of it.
But in reality, The Majority either don't give a shit either way, or they like NTR, or they read the disclaimer and didn't play the side story as its not in the base game at all.
Yes all that may come off as kind of dickish, but that statement bothered me, not just for myself but for other devs.
You can't get mad at a dev for funding his game with side content that not everyone will like, when they don't get offered money to NOT do it.

I would love people to try and make them though. curious how close they would get. Both Kayla and Alex are my own custom zbrush morphs.
I personally dont agree with this - there is a reason why games with controversial tags dont do as well as games with non-controversial tags. Look at basically any adult VN with a lot of supporters and you will see that an overwhelming majority of games with a lot of patreons are your regular harem or romance focused games with non-controversial tags.
Personally if I see a game with a tag I dislike I immediately rule out supporting the game financially. The reason for this is that there are many devs I want to support and I have a limited budget. I would rather support a dev who dedicates 100% of their dev time to content I have no problems with rather than support a game who dedicates 50% of dev time to content I hate. If I am not a fan of ntr why should I support you over some other dev if you spend half your dev time each update cycle dedicated to ntr content? Of course missing out on the the $5/month I would have pledged is not going to impact you in any way. But what if there are 100 players like me? What if there are a 1000? These small amounts can add up to something significant. I dont think this is going to impact your current game because the ntr tag is not added to this game and this is the first/only time you have done this but the more you do it the harder I think it will be to attract patreons who dislike ntr content.
Based on what I have seen when you add a controversial fetish to your game, you will get patreons but they will simply be fans of whatever niche fetish you choose to focus on. Initially you may see an immediate increase in patreons because there are not as many games that focus on this niche/controversial fetish so supporters of this fetish will flock to your game. However because the fetish is niche after a certain point growth will stagnate. After this point you will have problems trying to expand your patreon supporters because everyone else who would have supported you does not like the content you make and no longer want to support you. You can also get pigeonholed into focusing more on the niche/controversial fetish to avoid displeasing your existing patreons.
I think it is a safe assumption that many people who like NTR are for the most part not offended by vanilla romance/harem games and may be willing to give them a try. The same cannot be said for people who mostly play vanilla romance/harem games - many take offense at NTR and other controversial tags and simply put it on the ignore list which will be detremental to growth because when more people try out your game, the likelihood of having a few new supporters also increases - its in many ways a numbers game. So financially speaking I believe casting the widest possible net to attract the largest possible playerbase by having unoffensive fetishes (especially with frequent updates at the very beginning where your game is on the front page for everyone to notice) is the better option.
But all of this is just my opinion based on my observations. I may be completely wrong and/or biased because of my personal preferences. You should do what you want.

Well my base game does not have NTR, so no NTR tag. This is a side story we are referring to that isn't in the base game at all, their is some small elements that have been written since the start of this project for later in the story that can be considered NTR (even though not really) but it can be turned off if you don't want those elements.
Repeatedly get told here to "make the game I want to make", but that comes with allot of restrictions apparently.
Not playing or supporting a game because of one tag that can be avoided entirely, is like saying I won't play or support Halfway House because I don't like Samantha, and I cant avoid her, But I love that game because Emily is fucking cute.
and lets say a dev takes a commission to do something that you may not like. ok, so they spent 75% of their time on the things you liked, and 25% on something you didn't. but they use that money to upgrade. Guess what. They can now work at 150% of their original effeciancy becaue they can work faster.
Optional content is meaningless to me - I simply dont try games with certain tags because I dont know how much the game focuses on the tags I dislike. For example you could have 90% of every update be focused on ntr and make it 'optional'. It is simply not worth waiting for updates or supporting a game where I like only 10% of what each update has to offer. There are a ton of different games to try out - if I see there is ntr, I simply skip without even trying because there are other games without those tags that I have not played that I am more likely to enjoy instead. I sometimes miss out on some great games but I think thats fine. As for your analogy about halfway house - sure I like the game but I do not support it personally because I dont think the game is going to end. Emily is cute but is that enough for me to want to support it over other games I like and that I think have a clear sense of direction + regular update cycles given my limited budget? The answer is no. The same thought processes can be applied to fetishes as well. If a game has a fetish I hate, it does not matter how well the other paths are at least I personally am very unlikely to support it because there are many other games I could be supporting instead - it is not the only game in the world (I do support a couple of games with tags/fetishes I dislike such as Pale Carnations but they are definitely exceptions).
As for devs using commissions to upgrade - sure they can work faster but they can also keep spending more time working on things I dislike. I dont know the dev personally and if they have done something I dislike in the past how do I know they will not do it again? Also why should I support that dev when there are so many other devs to support? I would personally just see the dev is going in a direction I dislike, put the game on ignore and move on.
I am not criticizing you for taking this commission - you are doing this for a living and if you think this is the right move for you then you should keep doing it. If you think adding NTR to the main game is better for you financially then dont let me or anyone else stop you from doing it. And dont feel the need to defend your opinions here - its your game do what you want. I made this post simply because I disagree with many of your arguments. Like I mentioned in the edits to my previous posts - I may be biased because of my personal opinions and I may be completely wrong.

Well I do respect your thoughts on the subject.
When I started this project I wasn't sure what to expect, but was overwhelmed with the response I got, both here and on itch, to the point I quit my 75k a year job to pursue this because I love doing this and this is what I WANT to do, and I have a supportive girlfriend who is kind enough to work extra to offset this transition.
But money was tight, Things were moving slower then I wanted in terms of subscribers and progress on the story, and I got offered this commission and my first thought, was faster cards to render with. So I took it.
Released day 3 and the side story. got a nice jump in subscribers, sales on itch from the side story, plus the commission payment, and I upgraded.
and because of that progress on day 4 is moving along great, to the point I will be releasing the first half of day 4 to subscribers between the 14th and 21st of this month.
its taken my dev time from 3 months to a month/month and a half.
So yes, at the time, I feel taking that commission, and releasing it was the best play for me and the people enjoying the story.
