yeah, apparently effective because the retards put up with it and pay the ransom. For me at this point there's so many AVNs, especially if one isn't picky as far as kinks like incest, that I'd just play something else and forget an AVN even existed if there's no free update here after about 2-3 months. A lot of devs just release an update every month to buff up sub numbers, which makes sense as then they don't have time to unsub in between updates during dead months.
Some games only get updated every 6 to 9 months, and sometimes even every year.
Quit complaining and just sub to the patreon if it bothers you that much. The game is being updated regularly don't complain since you are a free user that it doesn't come to you same day.

Steam is also a scam as far as early games, abandonware or so many changes that it's barely the same game anymore or so many omissions from what was previously promised just doesn't happen quite as often. At least now they are clearly marked Early Access so people can avoid that risk if they want, but that wasn't always the case. And yeah, in general if the AVN dev isn't good at selling ice to Eskimos or gathering investors like Bernard Madoff those annual updates get hardly any subs in between (maybe a few thousand after a release that drops off a cliff soon after). Like Ocean, other than a day job prob spends half their time on PR and coming up with excuses (and still manages to piss people off by adding scenes and then removing them).
Ah if it's shit like that then I agree it's disgusting. Having an update done and then just paywalling it behind 500$ subscriptions while the free release comes like two years later feels criminal. It's not really extortion tho. Just scamming. In other words, people being incredibly stupid with their money. Which, fair enough, it's theirs. Still moronic. Thorns' Dev is cool in that regard. Two weeks isn't a big time to wait for a public release.
