Strange. It says that the file map_idle (the world map background) is missing, but it's not located at images/map_idle — it's in the folder images/map/map_idle.


I moved the map files into a separate folder because the number of them increased (from 2 to 8) due to the addition of different times of day.


Try rolling back to a point where the game was working. Save the game there, fully restart it, and then load that save.
I just started and get this, only downloaded it 15 minutes ago. The only choice so far is to help or not help with the bags, I chose not help.

EDIT: I started it again and picked help with bags. More dialogue but same error first time trying to leave the room.

Yeah, the last release was quite buggy. When I loaded my old save from version 0.15, Tori's face kept popping up in the message window during transitions. I decided to start the game over, and then I ran into another issue—a black screen after I agreed to carry girls bags. No idea what you were doing with prologue, but now it's broken.

Anyway, I went back to an earlier save, before Tori's first shift, and managed to avoid that constant portrait issue.

Now, about my thoughts on the latest update: I feel like we're playing a sort of "pimp simulator" now, with all the "pusher" stuff and everything that happens in the bar. I remember the dev talking about the mansion and stuff that's going to happen there, hopefully it'll be better because right now it's kinda boring. It would be nice to have one or two main villains trying to steal the girls instead of them just becoming prostitutes. The sandbox aspect feels redundant, as I had already imagined it, and that horrendous box carrying "mini-game" is just frustrating and doesn't really add anything to the game. It’s neither fun nor interesting.

P.S.
Zoe is definitely the best girl in terms of looks and personality. Who would want to pimp out such a cutie? :rolleyes:
I’ll wait for future updates, hoping they improve things.

Was this story originally done with 3D models and it was a road trip back home, but still had a music festival where the protag picked up the women along the way?

I vaguely recall a game like that.

I just did a fresh download of the game. I can't get past the beginning when you enter the map for the first time.

The bug with Tori’s side portrait ghosting... That’s an old issue that pops up occasionally. There is a fix for it, but I’m not going to use it for now, since I’m planning to phase out side portraits altogether. They were originally added to show character emotions, but it seems we don’t really need that anymore.


The old code is becoming a hassle. In v0.20, I plan to cut all of it out completely.


About the story: The point of a story-driven game is that you never quite know what’s coming around the next corner.

If you use the Pusher on Zoe and don't tell Bianca, the moment you get the second pusher you immediately automatically talk to Bianca as if she is in the know and give her the potion. That seems like a bug to me.

Also, how do you activate the 'd5_bianca_pusher' (or d5_tori_pusher) flag? I don't seem to be able to find the way. Whether you got the three ciggies or the pack, whether Bianca knows or not, the flag never gets active. Am I missing a step somewhere, or is this another bug?

Well, first of all... it’s not a bug. It’s actually a plot hole :) I didn’t account for an alternative storyline at that point — aside from making the pusher for Bianca and giving it to her. I need to add a condition there that Bianca must already know about the existence of the pusher for the MC to be able to just hand it over.


To get d5_bianca_pusher, you need to grab soda from Ian at the pusher, then you can mix the potion in the laundry room. As for d5_tori_pusher — you’ll figure it out after that.


Thanks for describing it in detail. I’ll need to tweak that scene a bit so it covers all possible story paths.
