With regards to update length, I made a reddit post about it to get more thoughts, and I've made my decision:

At this stage, I'm going to aim for a release late March with ~3,600 renders. As always, I'm going to keep everyone in the loop.

I think a longer update cycle works better for the story you are trying to tell. Other devs try shorter update cycles and you end up with 20 mins of content and then it's over. There are types of stories where that would work and this isn't one of them. You just have to hope that the story you put out is enough to hold interest.

I think the more time passes between updates, the more people lose interest. If an update is short but you enjoy it every month, you will remember the story, if you have to wait a year, people won't remember half of the plot. A lot of people don't like having to start over with every update.

It's definitely a balancing act. I never, ever want to go any longer than 6 months between releases, and I'm going to aim for a relatively big update every 4 months from here on out.

If players are concerned with forgetting bits and pieces of the story, I'll definitely include Chapter Recaps at the start of each release, just to re-fresh everyone's memories on the important points for those who don't wish to play through from the beginning each time .

There has to be a balance. There are games that update monthly, and the updates are short and sweet (10 minutes gameplay). However, either immersion tends to get broken or the games are not particularly story-rich in the first place. On the other end of the scale, there are quality games with large updates (typically 2-3,000 renders). that typically take 12-18 months between updates, leading to the usual criticisms by fans.

I believe the most critical factor in this balancing act for Tides of Succession is TakMycket's decision to render in 720p. This allows the best of both worlds, so to speak - large updates within a reasonable time frame. The implication of this is TakMycket can achieve in, say, six months (rendering in 720p) what other developers achieve in a year (rendering in 4K).

Just so we're all on the same page - the 3 Love Interests are Kasula, Glade and Lorelei. All routes are monogamous, except for one. I made a small change to my plans which haven't been reflected yet in the FAQ. There's now a throuple route.

To answer your pleas, I'm sorry... but there's absolutely no chance a side character becomes a Love Interest. Reason being they simply don't have enough screen-time to warrant a path, and even if they did, I wouldn't want to have more LIs. And because they aren't LIs, they're not getting any lewd scenes because I want to focus my efforts on the actual LIs.

Alas, I have planned for Tides to be the first AVN in a trilogy. There are a few side characters in Tides who show up as important characters later on in the trilogy. Most notably, Zelene is a LI in 'Part 2' while Elva is a LI in 'Part 3'. So if you wanted to romance those two characters, then you're in luck, but you're going to have to be patient, as it's going to take some time to finish Tides and then produce those AVNs.

On a separate note, I also want to take some time to address the throuple path.

When I announced it, I decided to keep the details a secret, with hopes that it would draw out some suspense, but now I realise that perhaps this wasn't the best move from my end. So with that being said, here's some information on the throuple path and how to get it...

I would not have guessed that specific combo to trigger the throuple. I actually thought it was going to be the Glade Allegiance/Lorelei Love path but I see I was working with missing info.

Will you miss some lewd scenes or other non lewd romance scenes with one of the Li or the other, or will their be alternate scenes. Basically, do I miss some content, get alternate scenes, or will the scenes be similar to some of the solo love paths till they converge into the throuple.

It's not a 'real' throuple in the sense that Glade and Lorelei won't fall in love with each other. However, over time they will develop a strong bond in the platonic sense on the throuple path.

So, to make it entirely clear - Glade and Lorelei both in love with MC, but not each other.
