From what I understand a spice pledge is more akin to you swearing on God or whatever you hold faith, and that's supposed to instill trust in others. But there's nothing actually preventing you from just saying teehee I lied and seducing the MC despite being in a truce with Lorelei.

I'm typically a monogamy player - if I do a throuple or harem thing I at the very least need to like everyone involved so I didn't even try this one. Lorelai to me is the poor little rich girl, who ... meh, maybe she'd be ok if there wasn't competition. Glade was an enemy soldier (sailor) who started trying to scheme and conspire while she was still a prisoner - minutes after being released from whatever spell she was under so no way I trust her as far as I can throw her. Kasula walked away from her people and the relative safety of her lands to explore all on her own, and is pretty, smart and fearless. No one else really stood a chance. I liked her and I thought the pirate kid who had grown up on the waves, and just had all of his ties to everything severed in a day would be drawn to her as well.
I haven't come too far into the game yet, I think as I'm still at the Liberty Ball. I'm pretty sure I'm only on Kasula's path now.
I might try the throuple path later, but a throuple path without an actual throuple relationship feels a little off to me.
Unless everyone is equally involved with each other, i.e Lorelei and Glade are just as much in love with each other as they are with the MC, it's just a guy with two girls.
I'm new to the game and have deliberately avoided reading the thread to avoid spoiling myself too much, so I may have the wrong impression here.

As I understand it, if you break a spice pledge, you lose your spice = die.

Glade lost Lokhart's spice which means she's on her own spice now. Breaking a spice pledge seems to be lethal for whoever is involved. Kasula talks about it a bit with the Unity conversation, how if their partners don't love each other or cheat they die, but it's rare since R'ol tend to know they are in love. Not sure how it works with Lokhart and other spice weavers though.

It's why Lorelei made a big deal about it when Tobias pledged to protect her to get her to go on the dingy at the start of the story.
Okay yup I definitely missed this I went back to read the conversation. She does say "you die as the spice pledge has been broken". Rip.

If the word "throuple" means a pure polyamorous relationship where everyone loves everyone and the girls are bisexual, then i agree the wording needs to change.
But there's nothing wrong with 2 straight girls agreeing to share their man, idk why it seems such an out of the world dynamic to people, and the girls are weird for not being bisexual and in love with each other?

I'm not sure if you want spoilers on it but the dev actually adressess this fact in one of his comments on the thread. There won't be romantic interest between the two but instead will develop a strong platonic friendship.

In all the talk about spice pledges, I kinda forgot a detail that's unrelated yet blew my mind.

Tobias can't swim.

Perfect Tobias, on ships since 5, heir to a pirate legend, can't swim. Thankfully Henricus is as powerful and lucky as he is that Tobias never had to abandon ship. I'm shocked that Candace or someone didn't push for this more.

It's not a 'real' throuple in the sense that Glade and Lorelei won't fall in love with each other. However, over time they will develop a strong bond in the platonic sense on the throuple path.

So, to make it entirely clear - Glade and Lorelei both in love with MC, but not each other.
This comment here is what I'm referring to.

Nothing weird about the girls being straight and even agreeing to share a guy, if that's what's happening. Remember, I haven't got far into the story yet.
On the contrary, every LI in most AVNs being bi is definitely weird.
I guess it's the wording here, throuple is a bit misleading, even if the situation is explained well in the dev notes.

I did 4 playthroughs, one with each LI and the throuple and only got to 60%. I think for the rest I'm gonna have to go back and play the inverse style (like allying with Glade and romancing Lorelei). I'm not sure I want to do that right now though because it doesn't seem like much payoff. Maybe once the story is fully developed.

I'm at 77.77% and have seen all content I was interested in. By far my favorite was the Lorelei solo path while having allegiance to Glade instead and keeping Henricus alive. The political ramifications are interesting and it's clear the King isn't too excited about Lorelei's attention to the MC but man their little adventure date finished off with sex on the tower overlooking the sunset was just peak. Best path in the entire game IMO in terms of romance.

I never gave Glade a chance because she was involved in losing Elva - willingly or not doesn't matter - but the fact that she immediately begins scheming suggests to me that she was more a willing participant that it might appear. If the information she had wasn't valuable, I might have fed her to the sharks after all.

She's a 250 year old pirate.. :sneaky:

MC and his crew are just newly reformed pirates...
Glade actually tries to get her opponents to surrender rather than just cut them down. She also admits she never killed any of our crew. I actually like her as she's quite a badass who can fight well with sword or unarmed. So far she's shown to be a staunch firstmate. Yes, it sucked losing Elva but Glade is a valuable partner and her jealous antics with Lorelei had me giggling like a demented psychotic schoolgirl :D

What's hotter than a 250 yo ex-green spice zombie pirate girl ... :devilish:

I feel like, in any kind of real world setting, the spice thing would be a disaster. Everyone would want spice pledges for everything all the time - a spice pledge from the grocer that all of your produce is fresh - a spice pledge to your parents that you'd do your homework - girlfriends in high school demanding a lifetime spice pledge - and everyone would be dead by 20.
Is like in xianxia novels when one say: I swear for the dao or whatever and is they dont do it what they say, in some stories a heavenly thunder(a punishment for not doing what u say) fall on the person. Sure, retards will die for making a pledge in the most easy thing like homework but most smart or sensitive enougth will leave that for serious things. Is not that hard. Is u pledge and then die for not doing it is your fault. One thing is when for example u pledge eternal love and someone rape u: U dont will die because u was raped. Universe or whatever will u want to call it have to understand u dont betray ur love, u was raped xD. So is not that hard. Sure, is u want to make the full logic u wll find a plot hole surely but is not that hard to believe we can live with 'pledges' like in the game.

Somehow I locked myself into Lorelei's path, now to do a Glade solo run  :devilish:
She only sorta lied. She may not have killed anyone directly but she distracted Elva while wusisname came up behind her. So, close enough for me. Zero trust, zero interest - I'd rather not have her on the crew.

I'm just saying that in this world, with all the authoritarianism about, you'd be forced to make pledges constantly - whether you wanted to or not.

Yeah, so the high rate of deaths will be high but because they were forced. So is will be a more realistic world but because one will be obligated to do it. I dont play too much so im not sure is this exist in the story, but maybe is u are obligated and not with true sentiment(the one doing the pledge have to do it by himself and not by obligation) for the pledge is not work? Can work more in that way, maybe. But only is we want a more 'peaceful' world. If not, is can work but is will be a fuck fest of deaths, i agree in that.

Good update, I liked it. My favorite routes atm are Lorelei - King Allegiance, Kasula - Will Allegiance, and Glade - Glade Allegiance. Throuple was spicy, Lorelei getting roasted for 20 minutes was pretty funny. Hopefully she bites back a bit better in future updates. I didn't mind the soft core sex scenes, however this games strong suit is dialog so maybe some minor dialog during can make them better.
