This is a wildly naive take on your part regarding development, communication and accountability. Motz saying the game is almost done for a couple months is one thing on grounds of trusting Aesouh’s word. Saying it for a year + while allegedly having zero actual development code/compiled for Motz to test/debug is another issue (Using his words on Discord on lack of game engine progress from Aesouh) and to tell supporters it is close to completion is wrong, deceptive and lacks accountability to supporters. Motz has his own mind and he knew what was going on between him and his partner (over the past year +). Your word is all you have in this life and both failed miserably in the honesty department.
What Real Accountability Looks Like : Hey guys it looks like the development of the game is stalled as I have not received the remaining packages to test for final release. I know this comes as a disappointment to many of you, including myself but we will try to release the game. I would like all future development questions to be directed to Aesouh as the remaining milestone resides with him to complete. In the meantime, we will be pausing billing cycles until the project reinitiates (Aesouh has delivered final packages for me to test). Thank you for the support over the years.
Look at that! Honest, transparent and accountable communication. This is a decision that could have been made months ago.

Except, he told people that he hasn't heard from Aesouh, and has not received any files. Even before the recent post. In the meantime, a new project was released. You have the privilege of hindsight with everything being said now, with potentially no stake in the game, even if you were a supporter. This is their project, their reputation. Motz was supporting his partner, as he should have, for as long as he could. Now he's trying to move on to ren'py, assuming an agreement was made between the two.
This is also a partnership, with money involved, agreements, ect. You're not going to just blast your partnership at the first sign of trouble. They've both confirmed that Aesoush told him he was having personal issues, but the work is being done. So, Motz took his partners word. Up to this point, why wouldn't he? They were supposed to be a team. Motz was clear he sent everything of his own to Aesouh, and he's waiting for him to deliver.
Now, they're having this public disagreement for everyone to see.
